I like the new ratling models, except that they still have hairy feet! Why would living on a world that caused humans to evolve to be short and stocky also make the tops of their feet hairy so they stop wearing shoes?
Now I have to green stuff boots on all my new ratlings. At least they have mad sideburns.
Well, if im not to mistaken, ratling are mutants (a mild form, but still).
If they had evolved to be what they are then I would wager a world with high G-force (making them short, and really strong) and cold weather (promoting increased body hair growth for warmth).
But as they are now, they are more like our modern day short people (on steroids by the looks of the new models) only with mutations since its 40k after all.
Thats my take on it at least.
Personally I would like a dedicated sniper team much better, lucky for me my gaming group is not to strick about the whole "counts as" .
When the Ratlings landed on their world, they lost the shoe and boots STC design template.
Years of cold feet led to the mutation of hairy feet and leathery soles.

I'm liking the new ratling models, and as to the hairy feet, stranger things have evolved than slightly furry feet which may not look very beneficial at first glance (=peacocks, baboon butts, etc) but obviously are!
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.
