I just want to know if master crafting a weapon is worth it and if so, what weapons are suitable for master crafting for an Inquisitor or Inquisitor Lord.
I don't normally bother with it for GK Heros but for Inquisitors and Lords mastercrafting can be a boon. Any CC weapon is worth mastercrafting because 1 more potential hit per phase is 1 more potential wound, and at S3 you need all the wounds you can get. A pair of mastercrafted Lightning Claws or a Thunder Hammers/ Daemonhammer are generally what you take for an assault Lord. You might also mastercraft a psycannon if you're giving it to an Inquisitor in a shooty retinue.
I never MC for an Inq/Inq Lord as I don't believe they belong in CC. They are quite fragile so I don't think the return on it is very high.
I do think, however, that if anyone deserves a MC weapon, it's the Grandmaster. He is generally underpowered against other HQ (they usually have WS6 or better). And the fact that one of his hits could kill outright makes MC for him worth considering, especially against powerful multi-wound adversaries.
I second jy2 here!
In a DH army, you rarely have spare points, so you have to make sure the MCing is worth it. And for me it's definitely on the GM NFW!
If you do have spare points an other good choice is MC the justicar NFW.
The only place I think master-crafting is worth it is on a GM's NFW. I've seen people do it to Justicars, but I have always found better places to spend those 15 points in cases like that. (E.g., unguents of warding, leaving you yet another 5 points to spend.)
ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.

I am one who will do it to Justicars. My reasoning is that though hitting on 3s and wounding on 2s is great, you can still be beaten by good armor saves. Giving the justicar a re-roll can be immensely helpful--especailly against things like Meganobz, Terminators, and Necrons. Sometimes it isn't worth the points, but often times it will result in two more deaths in a game, and paying 15 points to kill 2 models with about the same value seems worth it to me.
However if you are good at keeping your Jusitcars shooting then it is a wasted upgrade and should only go on your GK hero.
What number6 said...GM NFW is the only thing I use it on. Even on power weapons or shooty weapons, in most situations you are potentially only gaining one extra wound per round. The GM gives you a potential extra kill per round.
