Ok. I loove the idea of having flames on my army. Salamanders therefore seemed the obvious choice but i have a bike heavy army and love speeders. Salamanders fluff states that they didn't use bikes due to the harsh terrain on nocturn, also the gravity is too high for speeders. help me, how ccan I get round this?
You can easily get around it by simply doing a DIY chapter. Make up your own fluff, your own characters, and throw in as much fire as you want.
Salamanders won't leave bikes completely at home, I'm sure they have some (being such an old chapter) and I know that they would find uses for them on difficult planets (they aren't always on their home world, after all).
Another option is to try the Fire Lords chapter, mentioned on page 83 of the codex (you could also find some info on them on Lexicanum).
The game is your playground, fiddle with it until it works.

Yeah, I can see Angels of Fire, Apocalypse Company... *scratches his Firewarrior helmet* ...or is spiky things on their armour a fashion faux pas for you Space Marines? ...Company of Misery, er... wait, right, spiky things and pony tails are bad according to the Index Astartes... Fire Hawks (just because they're assumed to have all been killed off doesn't mean you can't use a time warp, or any other reason really, it's a nice looking scheme I think...)

the key to that is they don't use as many. They do still use bikes, speeders and assault marines, but they probably only have a Assault Company rather then Assault marines and such in every company, or vice versa.

Fire Hawks would be interesting to see - I'm not much of a fan of their color scheme, despite being a Legion player, but the nuclear blasts on the shoulderpads are fun.
Fire Hawks - Lexicanum for their colors.
Pg 106 of the codex shows the Salamanders hauling a speeder. If GW does it you can too!
Thanks for all the help guys. I hate painting yellow soo...
I'll just do the salamanders but i'm still open to suggestions.
If you want a land speeder with a heavy flamer its really easy to convert from a terminator one - chop off the arm and stick it on the bottom!
