How do you gear up a strong ASSULTY space marine captain?
2 Claws, Artificer armour, Auxilliary 'nades, jump pack
artificer armour maybe, not neccesary.
Post your army lists in the ARMY LIST section! Not that hard!
Yep 2 claws is definitely the way to go.
Depending on what unit he would join you can either give him a jump pack, bike or Terminator armour.
I like the bike/jump pack because it gives them a big striking distance.
"But courage which goes against military expediency is stupidity..."
Kayvaan'ish or Vulkan'ish.. both characters are examples of captains geared up for CC.. So yea LC's or a relicblade.. if you're okay with special characters the two I mentioned got their weapons mastercrafted which is nice..
depending on the squad you want the character to accompany however, do also consider Kor'sarro.. the stronger the squad the more it benefits from his abilities..
Digital weapons are a must on these types of characters. You have a pretty high WS (providing you a 3+ to hit on most people) that you NEED to have these weapons land theirs to wounds on models. However, if your taking 2 LC's, don't bother cause you are benenfitting from that anyways.

e_mance's way is my first way (i have the old medusa v sicurius the one labeled as a space marine captain next to sicurius in the codex that really annoyed me cos i was call sicurius when i bought it anyway). I do what he said if im putting it in a jump pack unit if its a assualt termiey unit then its storm shield, relic blade, articifcer armour, grenade launcher if im felling wimsical thats about it unless i plan to (and i dont normally) to deep strike then then its obvilously termey armour and a teleporter homer on the scouts.
E! Mance hit the nail on the head. The only time that wouldn't be a great set up (that could easily rip through most standard enemy troop choices in assault) would be if you were planning on getting assaulty with walkers or other vehicles. Then a thunder hammer might be in order (with digital weapons in that case).
With 2 LCs tho, you can basically rip apart most enemies no problem, even up to strength 10 (not ideal, but could work in a pinch).
Artifesur or termie armour, a storm shield, a thunder hammer or relic blade, maybe digital weapons
Or you could just take a special character, Shrike, Korsarro, Lysander, Calgar, Vulkan they can all tear enemies apart in combat.

I usually go Relic Blade on a bike.
I do this so the squad has 3 different initiative levels.
Captain with Relic Blade.
Vets if I use them with some flavor of power weapon.
Sergeant has Fist or Hammer at lowest init.
The thing I love about multiple initiative levels with power weapons is that its much harder to stack nasty wounds on only a few models.
Captain can usually kill at least 2-3 guys fairly easily with the strength of the blade.
The squad then kills a bunch more to a more manageable level.
The fist usually pastes a couple more on whoever is left.
I like the bike option due to mounted assault rule which is kinda nifty. The strike range is great and the ability to cover valuable units on the way in with good cover saves can be a life saver.
