I searched and I couldn't find a thread on this, so I'll start the discussion. I'm new to loyalists and I'm a little torn between bikes and land speeders. I was looking for some mobile anti-tank, which my army is lacking. So here's what I see as the differences and similarities between the two.
Squad size is the same
For a bike with the same weapon as a speeder, you pay 10 points less. The speeders with more weapons cost more.
The bike has only two weapon options, the land speeder has the same, plus several more. This is fine for the bike, since it can only shoot one, but the land speeder is a vehicle and can shoot more than one weapon at certain speeds.
The bike can move 12" and shoot it's one weapon, same with the speeder, except that a tornado can shoot frag missiles in addition to any other weapon while moving 12".
Both can make a special 24" move. The bike gets a 3+ cover save while the speeder only gets 4+.
S7 cannot kill a bike outright, while it can certainly kill a land speeder or at least make it useless for the next turn.
The bike hugs the ground, it can hide more easily and use cover.
Did I miss any major points? What's everyone's opinion of these two units?

Hmm you forgot a few things.. The attackbike can fire both the twinlinked bolters and the heavy bolter/multimelta.. although it rarely makes sense firing with the melta.. it sure does help the heavy bolter..
That being said the attackbike is much more prone to small arms fire.. and even though bolter fire can still take the speeder down it happens less now than it used to with the changes in glancing hits..
The speeders can also deepstrike.. not that it's a viable option? I wouldn't know..
And yea well I've always liked the bikes better, but I am curious to know what makes the speeder worth its cost (especially seeing as the bikes got a decrease in cost in the new codex whereas the speeders didn't), so I'm glad you made this thread
Always considered the speeder too expensive when fielded with more weapons due to it still being so.. fragile.
I usually take 2 speeders loaded with a Multi-Melta and a Heavy Flamer each, and I DEEP-STRIKE (Hint-Hint) them. Being able to fire a weapon on the same turn that you land is a very nice advantage about speeders, and I'm typically able to make its points back on the turn it comes in by frying whatever I land near.
Another one of the advantages of Speeders over Bikes is that Speeders can go in a lot more places with its move in general, especially the 24" move.

The following is not my writing, it comes from another thread posted by Bozinator. I do however agree entirely with what he says.
"In regards to the Attack Bikes vs. landspeeders... I'd say attack bikes as a personal preference. The two wounds, mobile guns which almost equal the landspeeder makes it worth it. Granted the skimmer's move makes it harder to hit, but I'd rather have a 3 attack bike squad. 6 wounds with 2 heavy bolters and a MM. It can at least attempt a death or glory type attack as you roar to within range and fire the MM to take out the enemies vital tank... or hide them and jump out to surprise anything attempting to flank."
Sure Landspeeders are hard to kill with the new vehicle rules, but T5 is also very hard to kill. Great survivability on these guys.
Also, the attack bike models are amazing, and really fun to paint.
Attack bikes for me, Speeders are just too much a pain to assemble.
I field an attack bike w/MM and a land speeder tornado.
The speeder always gets shot on the first turn or it arrives too late from deepstrike, while the attack bike is ignored due to bigger threats (i.e. the tornado) and so it runs around poping tanks
For get your Mr T, John Mayer leaks pure awesomeness with every note he plays.
Both have their uses, one disadvantage of the attack bike is that even with toughness 5 it cann (and will) be taken down by small arms fire. An imperial guard squad rapid firing your attack bikes will wound eventually....
OTOH a single attack bike is oftern percieved to be too small a threat to be shot at.
I spent so long assembling the damn things I feel it would be letting the Speeder win if I didn't use it
Speeders have immunity to small arms fire, Deep Strike, can't be locked in combat, a heavy flamer underslung (kills tanks and infantry dead now), and Deep Strikes.
Attack Bikes have 2 wounds, 3+ cover from turbo-boosting, a lower profile, and overall lower cost.
It's really a preference thing. If you have more vehicles, speeder fits right in, if you run infantry or bikes, attack bikes fit.
