hey everyone. so ive been looking at the rumours and the psyker battle squad took my interest. their seems to be alot of ways to maximise their use in combination with other units. the first and more obvious being the celuxus (sp?) and calidus assasins abilites. Another being an inquister with the psykic power that forces the nemy to take a ld test or run. this basically means as long as you pass your two ld tests youve made an enemy autorun.
another two things that im wondering about.
what are your opinions on ratlings in the new book?
what are you going to do about anti tank. while their seems to be a few options, none really appeal to me (expensive vendetta sucks )?
That almost auto run would be pretty powerful. If you keep a squad to herd them off the table even marines can't reqroup.
The obvious conscript + commissar doesn't look as good since the codex now says if they fail the second roll they fail (before -between the rules and FAQ- you could just keep shooting conscripts since there is not a leader to replace.
For anti-tank I think I will use tanks - Vanquishers*. And have some lascannons in heavy weapon squads. I have basilisks too so I won't miss the template of the battle cannon.
* I have one now. I just need to buy some plastic pipe to extend the battle cannon barrell. Hopefully FW website will tell me how long they should be.
the psyker squad goes well with anything that forces your opponent to take Ld or pinning tests, i know there's already a lot of other people drooling over their capabilities. edit: keep in mind, psychic hoods are still out there and depending on how well psykers do off the bat, we'll only see more of them to negate our squad.
for anti tank, you can always field a lascannon squad or two and give them the "bring it down!" order for twin-linked goodness vs your enemy's tanks or MCs.
vanquisher w/ lascannon is another good deal for range. especially if you throw in Pask for bs4 and +1 to armor-pen rolls.
but in general, there's plenty of weapons in the IG arsenal capable of knocking out armor on the field.
The name refers to facial hair, not playing style.Originally Posted by A news vendor's stand, London, June 1940

Eldrad and other Eldar Farseers have a better counter to the LD 9 Psykers. That one that makes you roll 3d6 for tests. I forget the name since I haven't taken a Psyker since I still played Marines :p
As for combos, I kinda like The Elite Inquisitor plus a couple of mystics standing next to an Executioner squadron.
I also like the psyker squad plus Rambo. His demo charge WILL get 25% casualties since I'm pretty sure he can generally get close enough to get behind any cover folks will hide behind. Sure it might not be necessary, but it will sure be fun! I can't wait to model one!
