So, is anybody going to try doing the Air Cav army list? I was really considering playing 5 vet squads plus a command squad in Valkyries/Vendettas . The list has strong anti-tank, strong anti-infantry, really maneuverable scoring units, and will get the first shots 9 times out of 10. On the other hand, the Valkyries armor isn't the greatest nor do the vets do much if they are forced out on the wrong side of the board.
So what does the greater consensus of Guard players think...
Fun and fluffy?
Too cheesy/no fun to play against?
All/None of the above?
there's one guy in my area who's doing a 'strong' air cav list; basically 2 command squads w/ meltaguns and MoFleets, 6 vet squads w/ meltaguns, and 9 valkyries w/ multiple rocket pods. the general concensus is it should be a challenging army to go against, though the repetitive units kill off the army flavor a bit, nothing but heavy valk-melta spam.
can find it on the IG army list section of the forum.
going to be doing one as well, yet to decide how i'm kitting each unit, but have already decided that each squadron will be equipped differently (sad that i can't mix 1 vendetta and 2 valkyries into a squadron).
Sorry valks and vandets are different squads. You have to choose one or the other to completely fill out your squads.

It would essentially be very similiar to an eldar meq list (instead of psychic powers we get orders) So if people in your area consider that cheese then they prob won't like this list too much.
If I was doing an air cav list i'd def have at least one squad of storm troopers as my "Delta Squad" and prob the rest be vets

He's Craig, usually is quiet among us more competitive folk.
He's the guy who told me to stop by here.
It looks like a powerful build, but I won't be able to afford all those Valkyries (plus I like tanks too much). A Hydra Battery will demolish a Valkyrie Squadron though. Bring plenty of autocannons and you should be able to knock them out of the sky.

Warstore has a 25% off 3-pack VAlk deal going on right now. I was able to acquire the following via warstore/etc. to prep for the list all for <$500
80 scenic resin forest/jungle bases
200 rare earth neodymiums for specweapon swaps, valk doors, etc.
Mini mp3 player and speaker to hook Flight of the Valkyries music up to the lead Valk
2 Catachan command boxes
And some assorted hobby requirements for the project
So, yeah, now's the time to get some valks ... from warstore ... for all you air-cavvers

I have to admit, that despite my 400+ Painted Guard, my tank company and my eight or so chimera hulls... the list that appeals to me most is the Flight of the Vendettas. I guess we all had Mech'dar or Mech Tau envy, eh?

I've been addicted to World of Tanks lately and neglecting my IG... But it is so... much... fun!
