New Stuff on the Guard Codex

Let X=the number of points for a guardsman when the next codex comes out

    Techpriests:
    0-2 in an army
don't take up any space on the force org. chart
Points cost for him hasn't changed, 9X points
    gets frag and krak grenades
Blessing of the Ominish works on a 5+ and he doesn't need to sit still to use it
Servo arm now works at +5 tothe techpriest's strength

    Priest
    Now costs X pts more
    has a free rosourius
0-5 dont use a spot on the force org. chart
    evesicrator is 2X points cheaper
rightous fury works like the SM chaplain's rule

That's all for now, I have in my posession a copy of the codex, if you have any other questions feel free to ask me. I will be answering any and all questions. (I only have the pages with rules on them though, this includes the full page unit breakdowns)

Tech servitors still cost the same? Shame that they decided to barely do anything to the Techpriest (who was basically in contention for most useless unit in the old dex) to make him better, while giving us a slew of different vehicles for him to repair. No new tweaks or additions to him, besides frag and krak grenades? An ability like the Space Marine Techpriest gets to improve cover saves would have been nice.

Actually he is twice as likely to repair vehicles as before thanks to the new rules for blessing of the Omminish.

    Servitors
Profile of an IG sarg if he was in carapace armour
up to 5 in a unit with the tech priest
    each has a servo arm

    Each one costs 3X points
2 can switch their servo arms with:
    heavy bolters 4X points
multi meltas or plasma cannons 6X points

Note: Each servo arm in the unit adds 1 to the roll for blessing of the omminish

Bleh. He went from a 6+ to repair to a 5+, but they compensate by increasing the cost of tech servitors by 50%. Change one number and remove the part about him starting the turn in base contact with a vehicle to effect a repair, and they call it a day. Oh, and remove the option for a Chimera. There's some nice things in the new codex, but there's other stuff that makes me think that half the 'dex was written by a trained ape without the training.

As much as I like the new Codex. HBMC at DakkaDakka is right - Codex: Arbitrary.

a servo arm is better now....

it doesnt just count as a single power fist attack, but counts as being strength 8, I1 power weapon.
that makes technical servitors BETTER. each technical servitor has 2 attacks, 1 normal at I3 (2 on the charge) and 1 at I1, strength 8, power weapon.

4 technical servitors= instant fixing of any vehicle, 5 powerfist attacks and 5 normal attacks.

plus, they had to increase the cost. You can give the techpriest and its squad orders, so you essentially could have 12 heavy bolter shots that force rerolls of cover saves. or 4 multi melta shots that reroll misses at a carnifex.

Actually only 2 servitors can take heavy weapons, and they are insanely expensive, besides that they replace the servo arm.

Any other units you guys want info on?

One thing I am interested in is these penal legionaries we've heard about. Does anyone think they'll be of any use or are they just a waste of a troops slot compared to getting a platoon?
