What do you guys use to take objectives? I'm thinking of using Straken, (backed by a company command squad w/ a medic, regimental standard, and grenade launcher), a platoon command squad (power weapon, grenade launcher x2), and 3 line squads (grenade launcher & mortar). All of these would be mounted in Chimeras. I want to have units that can seize the objectives towards the end of the game, but mounting all of that in Chimeras is pretty expensive. What do you guys use?

Chimerae aren't expensive at all, not like they used to be. They are how I intend to seize objectives--three infantry squads in Chimerae, maybe with a Commisar Lord riding shotgun to help them hold the line. In the meantime, the Chimerae will make very nice pillboxes...in fact, I think the Chimera is the best light tank in the game right now.

Outside of the deployment zone (where they can easily be held by stationary Infantry Squads or even Conscripts/Heavy Weapon Squads), I think Hardened Vets are the ideal option. They got ten points cheaper and Chimeras got cheaper as well, so they're basically the new Armored Fist Squad with BS4, the ability to take up to 3 special weapons in addition to a heavy weapon, and options for further upgrades like Scout/4+ save, etc. The only thing that can bring an equivalent amount of firepower with the same accuracy would be a Command Squad, and they're not scoring.
Hardened Vet Squad--3 flamers
Costs 140 points and gives you a scoring unit that can inflict a bunch of wounds on anything holding or attempting to retake an objective when they hop out, plus the Chimera provides extra firepower, protection, and can even contest another objective. For a few points more you can upgrade to melta or plasma guns for even nastier firepower.

For just grabbing the odd objective, any infantry squad will do. Hell with the new Run! order, infantry can run to objective rather quickly.
Now *holding* that objective, that's a different problem
Vets are nice, and are great units for moving out beyond the firebase, but they are also just T3 5+ models and can't a lot of punishment. If you want to hold an objective, I think a whole infantry platoon is needed.
Either march a PCS and infantry squads, or merge those squads into one unit w/ a commissar. 30 stubborn men with a variety of weapons backed by at least a PCS can take a lot of punishment when they're in cover.
Back them up with some ordnance support and they will be able to keep the bad men away (hopefully).
I've found people like dumping an objective into difficult terrain.
i plan to make them pay dearly for that mistake. I'll be claiming objective's with either platoon squads in near permenant "Down!" mode, or swooping and dumping veteran squads from valkryies.
thats when i have the cash to shell out for them though.
