Alright, so im going to make this as short as I can. I play Tau on a weekly basis and soon Orks as well. 1500 pts.
This list will either be righteous glory or absolute embarrassment.
My main question is this: Can I field a formidable army with what I currently have to work with?
(Disclaimer: I've already done up a list with this army and it works out to 1500, albeit slammed to the GILLS with wargear)
Champion (Doesn't take HQ)
1 x 5x Command Squad complete with Bearer, Champ, Apoth, Sgt. attached to marshal (Also doesn't take HQ)
20 x Crusaders (All initiates with 8x CC and 8x Bolters, 1x Las, 1x Melta, 1x Flamer, 1x Missile for available options)
5 x Tactical Terminators
5 x Sword Brethren
1 x Dreadnought
5 x ASM (Lead by Chaplain)
1 x Rhino for Crusaders
Here's what I would like to do. Would this be better?
20 x Crusader Initiates
8 x Terminators TH/SS
5 x Sword Brethren
Land Raider Crusader
Would that work out better?
- - Also question. As far as I know if the codex says you can take Crusader seals at X pts per model, ALL models in that unit have to have it. My question then is can I give the seal to an independent character and his seal will count for the squad?
Thanks in advance
To start you can't take 20 initiates in a squad. I would take an 8 man walking squad with all of the CC weapons, and make two shooty squads with heavy weapons with the rest until you get more models.
I would probably play the sword breathren with the command squad as well as another crusader squad.
That gives you enough troops to be playable and take objectives, but you really should go out and get some neophytes to bumnp up your numbers.
If you can fit the tac terminators in with the Crusader and the dreadnought you might be in pretty decent shape, however against tau you could lose both your tanks early.
I would shy away from TH+SS terminators because we don't get the great ones, and we can give them furious charge. If you can put Lightning claws in your crusader you really can take down any squad from 20 inches.
