The Immolator is GREAT!
You suck, go away!

I rather like the idea of Tank Shocking with them.. and was curious of your thoughts on a few upgrades..
Immolator ( 100 )
+Dozer Blade, Extra Armour, Holy Promethium, Laud Hailers
I was curious what you thought about my over all design, as well as any comments you have for any of the listed upgrades.
My thoughts are...
Dozer Blade: This one is a no brainer.
Extra Armour: I would usually only reserve this bit of wargear for when I have a few spare points left over.. but in the case of a Vehicle intended for Tank Shocking (as well transporting) I would prefer to avoid the little 1/6 chance to stop it on a Death or Glory.
Holy Promethium: Freaking awesome! I do have one question though.. If the Immolator /does/ inflict 25% casualties, would the targeted unit(s) be required to take two morale checks? One for Holy Promethium, as well as one for actually inflicting enough casualties?
Laud Hailers: Not necessary, but the additional -1 penalty to LD is appreciated.
Assuming I am correct.. this means the Immolator has the potential to inflict up to THREE morale checks on a unit.. as well, possibly multiple units! It would seem to me.. that this would be a fan-freaking-tastic support for a mechanized force!
I've recently become a fan of this thing called Dubstep. And you should too.

Extra armour and smoke launchers are the no-brainers for me. As someone in the DH forum pointed out to me a while ago, most other Imperial armies now pay 15 points for Extra Armour for a reason; the fact WH and DH get it for 5 points is fantastic (well not really, it's a 5-point upgrade at best, but you know what I mean). The WH smoke launchers don't benefit from the same Codex-creeping godliness as the DH ones (which downgrade all penetrating hits to glancing for a full turn) but they're still worth 3 points.
Holy Prometheum is a fantastic upgrade. Not indespensible, but if you've got the points spare it's definitely worth taking. The way I've always played it and seen it played is that inflicting 25% casualties on a single unit over-rides the benefit of Holy Prometheum, but that's a house rule thing and I'm not sure there's anything official to say your Holy Prometheum won't inflict 2 Morale tests on any unit it wounds.
Holy Icons are cracking upgrades for a mechanised army in missions with objectives. Combined with the Book they can make your Sisters extremely effective ground-holders.
Laud Hailers can be cool, but I tend to take them on all my vehicles or on none. Personal choice, though; they tend to work better on Immolators than Rhinos because with an Immo you're usually driving AT stuff rather than driving TOWARDS stuff. It's an aggressive vehicle >_< If you're dedicating this vehicle to Tank Shocking then a Laud Hailer is a good idea.
Dozer Blades are situational at best and a waste of points at worst; to get the benefit you have to move less than 6", and your Immolators routinely move a lot further than that.
I'd drop the Dozer Blade and take smoke launchers instead, they'll help you get across the board a little more safely and best of all there's very little modelling involved
100pts for an 11 armored transport with no effective long range guns is a point sink.
I don't know how combat efficient the Immolators are, but a couple of friends donated 2 Immolators to my Sisters of Battle So I love them and want to field them very much!
Holy Promethium is just bad numbers. Try to count up the number of units in the game that *won't* take 25% casualties from a twin linked heavy flamer, that aren't either LD9-10 anyway or fearless. And sisters usually specialize in focusing on an enemy unit and eradicating it. It's never been appealing to me as a tactical decision to take it.
Dozer blades are a waste on an immolator. Why the heck would you move an immolator less than 12"???
Extra Armor and Smoke, that's all you need. Make a mad dash and light something up. Even if you don't make it, you'll draw disproportionate fire.
Immolators come in two flavours to me. The first is the HFlamer Immo. I use this one for transporting small squads of Celestians mostly, typically ones carrying two meltaguns. The Celests fire at a tank or dread, while the Immo targets any nearby infantry. The Immo has minimum upgrades to keep it cheap, as do the Celests. I only use this unit in larger games but it has proven useful as it has quite a lot of firepower for its cost. It works best when used in close conjunction with the rest of the army, the same as all other sisters unit.
The other unit I sometimes use is the firebase one. This is a quad-HB Retrib squad in an Immo with HBolters. I use the Immo to drive the Retribs to a good firing position, then it takes up a good spot, preferably one providing cover/LOS block for the Retribs, and fires away with them. Once again this is a unit for larger games as it isn't as resilient as a full 10-strong retrib squad. It is more flexible in its deployment and has more firepower though.
One important thing to bear in mind with Immos is: Immos are not tanks. They are Rhinos with a few guns. As such they should be used as transports first, gun tanks second. Their real firepower resides in the squad they are carrying. I never use them independently, they are totally inadequate for the role. The Exo, with its decent front armour and strong, long-range firepower, is the sisters real tank.
Smoke poppers and extra armor. Am i the only one that thinks the immo as the best tank GW makes? Ok, besided the exorcist.
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.

I love my Immolators, but I always run 'em naked. Always with 5 Celestians with meltas.
Yes, that's 150 points of "shoot a melta out of the Immolator's one fire point and pop a transport, then burn the guys inside with my twin-linked heavy flamer delicious." They distract people from the real targets in my list, because no one wants toasted by flamers!
I think the special ability to move 12" and always shoot the heavy flamers is one of the coolest things ever. I hope to the god emperor that GW doesn't screw us over when they re-do our codex in 2037...
I'm trying to catalog every song with a reference to yetis or Sasquatch. Please help.
but at least they will be all plastic(wink)
I love the immolator but have not found an effective unit to put inside.
I tried a cannones and retinue but found jump pack cannones to be better.
Celstians squads really arn't worth it unless they are bodyguards.
Domianon's maybe but so many squads do what they do better and they have to compet with seraphim for slots and points.
I like the idea of it transporting retributers but then you would lose the heavy flamer which the reason why you take it in the first place.
I like them so much i may consider running one as my third heavy and stick a squad of 5 Ist's with 2 plasma guns inside it for low costed games
Maybe in 2037 they will give the hellhound rules like it used to have.
