Basically, is there a way that space marines can use any of the assassins. Ive read that if you ally them with DH then you can. If so what draw backs are there?
You can include an assassin as an ally from either the WH or DH codex.. The only thing that could be considered a 'drawback' is that you'll also have to choose an Inquisitor Lord from said codexes who takes up a HQ choice.. You should never take a 'naked' Inquisitor though.. there's a few good things to them both.. DH ones got mystics which allows you to fire at deepstriking enemy units and WH got witchhammer.. both got access to a Psychic Hood also.. So well yea..
Not just any old psychic hood either. Well actually yeah, any OLD psychic hood. You know, the ones that have unlimited range. Use these to drive your opponents psykers nuts!
Space Marines: W15/L7/D3
Imperial Guard: W6/L4/D0
Actually you can taake an assassin from WH and an inquisitor from DH. But that'll take up 2 elites choices.
You can take
1 Fast Attack
1 Fast Attack
To include allies you must have the minimum 1 HQ and 2 troops chosen from your marine codex.
To include an assassin you must have an inquisitor or inquisitor lord in your force. This means that you can take an inquisitor lord from either codex. Then take both a WH assassin and a DH assassin.
IG Best Gen 1st overall of 10 DE 4th overall of 6

both the DH and WH codex state that you may only ever have one assassin in any force for any reason
You were saying you wanted the assassin for playing havoc with enemy heavy support.
What do you mean by heavy support? How do you want to use him? Assassins have some precise uses. (by all means though, if you want to use the assassin model because you like it/think its cool, do it) Its a good of a reason as any)
Take an Inquisitor Lord, as a second HQ choice, and pick the assassin of your choice.
ILs have their uses. Gear them up, for a shooty unit ( 2 sages, 2 mystics, 2 vets with plasma gun, gun servitor w/ MM, gun-servitor with HB ). Also, you can build a nasty CC unit with lots of Crusaders. Just pile them in a vehicle of your liking, and send them a-hunting.
As for the assassins, my fav is the Vindicare. His ability to pick out models, regardless of rules, is the best in the game ( IMHO )! Don't like that marine with the plasma cannon? *DEAD* CSM with an autocannon? *DEAD* Oh, look! A chaos lord with one wound left! *DEAD* Eldar farseer with a nasty Invul save? *DEAD*
Do you get the "picture"?
I so love him!
I wouldn't use an assassin personally. they have some ups and major downs. I hate using them.
However for the sake of answering your question yes with an inquisitor or Inquis. lord.
im doing it to fill up my points fast, also I just like the vindicare. It would help me pick off some of those power weapon bastards lol with the scout cpt. always forget his name but basically has the same skills
