I'm starting to play tyranids now in addition to my Daemonhunters (and a couple other armies also). And I'd like to team them up on the occasion that I play separate detachments or even apocalypse. I 'm looking for possible ideas fluffwise for using them both as allies. Thanks.
Erm... I don't think there's any fluffy reason Tyranids would team up with anyone. The Grey Knights are Daemonhunters and so they might be tempted to ignore the Tyranids as long as the Nids weren't attacking them and there was a more heretical, daemonic problem at hand. Or something.
I'd just do it anyway. I've always said the GKs need their own Monstrous Creature, and some form of Grey Knights Dakkafex would be awesome
How about the ordo xenos captured a bunch of nids and now have mind control over them. Theyve been seent in with the Grey Kights to act as a distraction/cannon fodder for them.
Far fetched i know but i just imagine some ordo xenos cattle branding all the nids with the =][= logo!
I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand
Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm.
There is virtually no way you can fluffily defend an alliance between any army and Tyranids.
What you might be able to justify is how, in "this particular battle", the non-'nids army happens to be taking advantage of a 'nid invasion to further its own goals. It can be presumed that after the game ends, the non-'nids and 'nids will themselves be fighting it out.
ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.

How about something along the lines of:
Ordos Xenos has captured the unhatched egg of an infant hive tyrant and are experimenting with it in trying to control the tyranids. Maybe they're trying to modify its hive-mind and 'reverse engineer' it to fight against other xenos species (including other tyranids).
PS - Or it could be the egg of a Norn Queen!
Why can't it just be a load of Guardsmen in disguise? I can totally see Yarrick with Rending Claws and Toxin Sacs.
In the Dark Apostle book, both the CSM and the Dark Eldar were using the confusion of a 'nid invasion to get what they needed done.
Yes, I did deep-strike your sister...
