Ok then this thread isn't as much a question as a request for all marine players: would it be possible to create a thread by which you post lists not for correction or comment but to say that this and that worked well.... i.e. a sort of list data base which can be used by others to see what worked for you, how you used it etc....?
NB: no full battle reports
Basically post a lists that HAVE BEEN BATTLE TESTED and include (ish):
opponent(s) used against
point value/level (e.g. 1500 pts)
Gaming: 2 pros and 2 cons (if there are that many.... could use examples from game to highlight certain issues with the list or good plans/'set pieces' you like to employ e.g. LRC/R and assault termie assault)
something you enjoyed about the list (e.g. a cheesy moment you had in the game or the modelling opportunities the list offers)
something you didn't enjoy (e.g. so many models to paint)
basic strategy (no need for essays unless you feel like it)
The reason why i ask this is because even though the list section is very useful, (thanks to all who've previously commented on my lists/posts) it would be nice to have this as a kind of resource for players to look at each others list ask them questions about it and so on. E.g. if someone has a list and you're going to model yours around it you could ask them how they've dealt with various threats etc.
Admitedly this may be a little time consuming for those who post list as regards typing up and such but i would hope it'd be useful for people, both experianced players and the new.
Of course feel free to slate/flame/disregard this idea but to all who do decide to have a crack at it a quick thank you in advance.

I think that is actually a great idea. But you need an admin to make it a sticky thread, I think. Start off a new thread such as "Army Lists that were successful" or "Army Lists and their battle results" or something like that, and start off with your own experience. Then ask an admin like Lost Nemesis how to and if you can make it sticky.
i would start with my own experiance but i happen to be lacking in the experiance side of SM and hence visit this forum mainly to enquire and soak up the knowledge of other players. Most of the time i tend to refrain from sharing ideas and such for the fear they will be 'wrong'/ineffective as many of them are far from being battle tested. However if this thread proves to be popular i may pm Lost Nemesis and enqiure about stickying this.
the input is much appreciated, thanks

again thanks for the support, i think a few more people agreeing and i'll broach the subject with an admin
thanks again.... much appreciated
Awesome idea, there needs to be one in all the army sections.
"stupid overtime zombie virus."
"I'm glad that worked. Those would have been horrible last words."
Ok...I'll start off with the first list.
1500pts - Seize Ground - 4 Objectives, Dawn of War
8x Assault Termies - 6 TH/SS, 2 LC
7x Assault Termies - 6 TH/SS, 1 LC
2x 10 Tact squad - Lascannon, flamer, power weapon
2x Razorbacks - Lascannon, TL-plasmagun
Predator - TL-Lascannon, 2x Lascannons
Necron Lord - Veil of Darkness, don't remember what else
2x units of Necrons
I thought I brought a cheesy power list, but his was just as cheesy. And he had the perfect counter to my assault termies - his Nightbringer & Pariahs. He deployed his Nightbringer close to me and kept everything else in reserve. I just deployed 2 lascannon combat squads to start. When he did move, he put all his troops+lord in cover (ruins) and basically stayed there practically the whole game.
The Nightbringer was really hard to kill. I didn't even scratch him after the 1st round of lascannon fire (that's 5 lascannon shots...the ones that wounded, he made his invuln save). Then I assaulted him with 8x termies + Shrike and inflicted only 2 wounds. He killed about 11 termies + Shrike before I finally took him down. The thing that killed my termies was that both units couldn't assault him at the same time, because one of them failed their LD test to assault. That cost me about half a squad of termies there.
Even with all my lascannons firing at his Monolith when it did arrive, I couldn't do anything to it (maybe just 1 shaken/stun result). It really is a beast and the toughest vehicle in 40K.
My remaining termies did make it into combat with his Lord+unit. However, next turn he just teleported to a safe location near his Monolith. I couldn't get him to phase out.
The game ended a tie as we both had 1 objective a piece.
My 2 main mistakes were not being able to assault his Nightbringer because of a failed LD test, and trying to take out his Monolith.
Matt, I'm happy to sticky this for you, provided there are enough army list responses. Further, it would be a good idea for you to add links in your original post to the lists people add in, that way people will not have to scroll through comments, which I find most people don't want to do when perusing stickied threads.
Curently, at 1850pts im undefeated with my Mechanized Salamanders List. I feel that i do not abuse Vulkan's rules, but rather staying within the fluff of the Salamanders Chapter
Squad Ifrit (10 Marines)
Seargent - Combi-Melta, Power Fist
Squad Ignis (10 Marines)
Seargent - Combi-Melta, Power Weapon
Squad Beherit (10 Marines)
Seargent - Power Fist
Razorback - Twin-Linked Lascannon (which i sometimes swap for the Twig&Berries loadout sometimes for same price)
Dreadnought - stock
Assault Terminators (5)
Dedicated LRC w/ MM
LR Redeemer w/ MM
Vindicator - Seige Shield
I better not see anyone copying my squad names
