So its been a while since ive played marines, and I just picked up the new codex. I noticed that you can now transport scouts with land speeders, I see where this can be useful. Has anyone used this and had any good success with them?
It's not any land speeder just the land speeder storm. Personally i havent tried them out but i'd like one for my outflanking p fist scout squad. 150pts you get to move in 12" in the land speeder, disembark 2" and assault 6". Coming on from either table edge i could see myself having fun with this.

I've successfully used these to win a game - people generally aren't used to SMs having troop choices that can move 18", and if you don't start your scouts IN the LS-Storm sometimes people forget they can even fit in there ;-)
I had a previouse post about scouts and shot guns, this is where I can see them be usefull because you could get them really close to a unit and ast and get those 10 shots off no problem, and charge
just a question but could you load up a sniper squad in it and then use it to scoot, early in the game, towards a nice tall building? i.e. vantage point.... idea for the use of the speeder maybe?

I know i'm getting the scout & storm when its released. It fits well with my army theme and is just full of tactical potential; Claiming last minute objectives , hunting down squishy HQ , tank busting (Hitting rear armor rocks!) getting your opponent's deep strike to scatter 4 dices and the list goes on and on.
I was thinking about this just now ,i don't have the core rule book at the moment , perhaps someone could tell me if its legit; Could you fit your entire scout squad in the storm with shotguns and move your max 18" will being still able to shoot all of them? they're only strength 4 (So its a defensive weapon) , since the storm is open top all the occupants can fire their weapons and since the storm moved its max distance it gets a cover 4+ save. I'm just wondering if the rules for defensive weapon are applicable at 18' and if the open top rules haven't changed since the 4th.
The idea would be to hit low save units in the back (10 strength 4 isn't that bad if you ask me) while keeping a degree of survivability.

not 100% sure on your question, but im just building my own land speeder storm, i basically just cut open the top of my old speeder lol. Could I use that in a game or no?
I have not used them, though this "storm" is a rather interesting idea.
Equiped with a HF, you can go hunting for those "soft" HQs hiding in the back.
My only "con" is the storm only carrying 5 scouts.
