I wanted to put a squad of veterans mounted in a Chimera in my army, but I need some advice on what to arm them with. I usually play against a nid player who fields a couple tyrants, a carnifex, some warriors, and a couple zoanthropes (so basically a lot of high armor save models); but he also has a couple large swarms of gaunts. Should I go with flamers, plasma, or meltas on the three special weapons veterans?
Thanks in advance.
Hmmm. I'm thinking demo charge and 3 meltas for 130 points. All of the weapons can harm monstrous creatures whilst the demo can be chucked at a swarm if necessary. Against other non-nid opponents it should retain it's usefulness.
Alternately, 2 plasma guns/meltaguns and a flamer for 115/105 points.
You won't be able to tool a veteran squad to deal with all that.
For the guants how about a chimera with a heavy flamer, then a veteran squad with a heavy flamer and 2 flamers for a drive-by.
Finally getting round to finshing my Tallarn Imperial Guard Army (2K)
Everything else has been sacrificed on the Altar of eBay...
Your infantry can smack down infantry well enough, give those Vets plasma or melta and go big bug hunting.

My standard load out for Vets with the new codex will be 3x GL's and Demo doctrine mounted in a Chimera.
Huge anti-infantry capability (esp. inside 24"), the ability to take down MC's and vehicles, and a really nasty surprise for any assaulting squads.
It's worth a krak!
