I was thinking about Upgrading my Demolisher into a Punisher. What do you think guys? A punisher can Horde a Horde. Can hose down Terminators surely killing at least 2.
Since the Demolisher is a 4th edition it;s armed with a Lascannon and 2 Plasma Cannon...Imagine that combined with the Punisher's Galting gun.
What do you think guys?
Keep Demolihers or Upgrade to Punisher?
The Punisher isn't that good really. It will kill around7 Orks or 2 marines on average, it's probably less effective than a standard battle cannon yet costs 30 pts more. The Demolisher is a great tank on the other hand, I'd keep it.
Demolisher ftw here.

The punisher cannon is pretty much awful for its points. If you shoot the punisher cannon at a terminator squad, you've got a good chance of killing a single terminator. Shoot it at orks, you'll probably kill 4-5 orks.
Fire a demolisher cannon at a squad of 5 terminators, you'll probably kill 2-3 of them. At a packed squad of ork boys, it's just a question of how many you can fit under the template. I've seen a squad with Grotsnik stuck in a giant mass after assaulting (since they have to move toward the nearest enemy, they're not allowed to spread out again after they're stuck together) lose 18 boys to a single shot from a large blast. That did a pretty good job of chopping the teeth out of the squad.
Demolisher for sure. The Punisher certainly has intimidating stats, but really, your anti-horde work can be accomplished by your lasgun toting grunts, something I'm sure you have a few of. The Demolisher allows you to put a tank on the table that is seriously dangerous to any unit that has the misfortune of looking down the barrel.
Demolisher, is the best of option of the two. 32 shoots can sound like a good idea on paper, but anything with AV 12 or more is impervious to the guns of a Punisher.
Edit: + Demolisher is cheaper.

If you have a problem with opponents spacing their troops out as much as possible to minimize template damage then at least one Punisher is a good idea. I recently fought a horde Ork player--150 models, 6 kill points or so in a 1500 tournament game--who did that for the ENTIRE game and I couldn't get more than 2 or 3 kills at a time with my Demo shells. Frustrating.

I second the Demo for sure. Punisher is a paper tiger and asking for disappointment.

The Punisher has one really useful trait over pie plate tanks. It doesn't scatter. So if you need to kill something that is threatening your lads, the Punisher fits the bill,
That being said, it is a tad overpriced for the lack of utility.

I've been addicted to World of Tanks lately and neglecting my IG... But it is so... much... fun!
