As much as I like the models available for the Rough Riders (read: Krieg Deathriders), I cannot really find a role for them other than counter-attacking an assault, or maybe running interference, where their slot would be better filled by any of the other Fast Attack options.
It seems you'd really want a minimum squad of 10 as mentioned in another thread for the kill point thing, which would bring them in the point range for any of the other Fast Attack options. In that regard, they seem kinda lame, which makes me a sad panda.
What do you guys think?
I love the fluff for them. That's enough for me.
I may one day start a Guard Company of my own, and if I do they're definitely going to have a place in my army. Whether there are as effective as the other Fast elements or not, I still like 'em.
They're sort of like cheaper, one-time use, Eldar Shining Spears... and let me tell you, Shining Spears are brilliant when it comes to annihilating MEQs and TEQs.
I've recently become a fan of this thing called Dubstep. And you should too.

I might not have the healthiest view upon these guys, but imho a squad of 5 can be just fine.. They're first and foremost a cheap option and they are likely to kill as much as they're worth when charging, especially if you have destroyed the enemy Ld (with those psykers) before the charge as they have a good chance of winning the combat..
Even if they're an easy KP there's so much weak points in the army already taking a full squad they're as you said no longer cheap and might even start to overkill when charging..
