Just as the title says, I'm going to be in a team game against a Tau/IG match-up. Now, I realize that the best way to deal with this is to use drop pods and assault squads. Bad news: I have neither. I've only a 5-man assault squad with a power fist (But I may be able to scrounge up a flamer for them) and no drop pods- Rhinos are my preferred modus operandi. To compound this, I lack Dev. Squads, preferring to fill up my HS slots with Tanks, the lovable treadhead that I am.
My current thoughts are to put a flamer in my assault squad, run that with 2 HF/MM deep-striking land speeders, and deep-strike in my shooty termi squad (Combat-squadding after landing to keep the chainfist in the CML squad and AC in the half with the PW). Unfortunatly, I don't have much in the way of teleport homers or locator beacons so my scatter will be erratic. I do want to run my TF cannon, if only for the purely psychological effect (That IG oughta remember it from the past 2 times I've been able to use it against him And those HWS can be ID'd now...)
So what exactly is a mechanized marine player to do in this situation when lascannons, railguns, crisis suits, hellhounds, and leman russes are in abundance and his forces will be dead if caught outside their rhinos?
Space Marines: W15/L7/D3
Imperial Guard: W6/L4/D0
Could you post, a general listing, of your current force?
Thunderfire cannons are fantastic against the Tau/IG. Use SD to kill their troops outright, and use the SB to mess up the movement of the Tau's skimmers.
Just make sure, to place your TFC, in an area with a really good cover save.
