my army is paited in the colours of the salamanders and i really like bikes, but i read on lexicanum that salamanders dont use bikes very often.how can i justify using bikes in my army, i was thinking maybe they are a reconaissance force wi=hich would justify the bikes. What do you think?
I think bikes are fine in a Salamanders force. I think the original army was allowed one unit of bikes, and one unit of assault troops. So as long as you dont go overbord with them, you should still fit the fluff of the army.
mate it doesnt matr what colous you put on your model, just use biikes. They're a good choice and if you LOVE bikes get a captain in a bike and THEN you can use bikes as troop choices. YAY 72 bikes for me!!!!!
cool cos i like salamanders colours and i like bikes but theyre all equipped with mm and meltas so i think they still fit the fluff
I think bikes would be just fine. If you want to stay within the bounds of the fluff just use a captain on a bike with a relic blade and attach him to a bike squad. Load up on enough bikes, flamers/meltaguns and MM attack bike and you have a flaming/melta gunning squad of pure death...which is also a scoring unit!
The Salamanders may not go to bikes as their first choice like the White Scars, but they are still a Chapter that adheres to the Codex Astartes. If they are put into a situation where mounted troops would be most effective, they'll use bikes. I would imagine that a conservative chapter like the Salamanders would be more likely to resort to a "safe" bike for speed rather than a Jump Pack, which is as likely to cause its user to crash or explode.
The backstory of the Salamanders makes frequent references to the Salamanders operating in rearguard and escort roles and speed is almost required for that.
Moreover, considering they are a very small Chapter, I would imagine they would require a couple of teams of mounted units to have more troopers in two places at once and seem more numerous than they actually are.
So, yeah, some Attack bikes with Multimeltas would fit the Salamanders to a 'T'.
WHFB: Dwarfs || WH40k: Imperial Fists, Necrons || WM/H: Trollbloods || BFG: Necrons
If you are worried about theme just make sure they have meltas and/or flamers in your bike squad. If they didn't use them the codex would deny access to them, that's how i consider the theme selections i make.
hope this helps brother!
