Thanks to the glorious thing that is Ebay, I recently found 20 of the old Ratling models for 11 dollars. Of course, I snatched them up.
Now, two questions pop into my mind. 1; These models are still legal to use, correct? 2; Are two full squads of Ratlings too many for my 2000 point Guard army? I don't think so. As that means it's 20 shots that hit on 3's and wound on 4's no matter what.
So, my fellow Imperial Commanders, what do you think of our little abhuman riflemen?
112th Cadian Rifles - Since January 2009
MY Record - Overall 4/5/5
1) they're still perfectly legal
2) They are useful, just make sure to grab a PBS to help out their pinning weapons. 10 shots is 11.1 rends, so just over 1 rend and 2 wounds for each 10 of em, sofiring togeather at a squad that had it's LD lowered or having 1 squad shoot at them and the other hit a MC or similar wou;d be fairly effective.
Even if they don't do too well, they're 200 points for the 20 of em and 11 dollars isn't much.

Yep it is completly legal and no its not too many ratlings.I would take 30 but my slots are currently occupied.I love ratlings!
for the emperor, for the great maw, blood for the blood god,
for the horned rat!!!!!
It really depends.
If i knew I was facing lots of nids or the ork boy swarms then ratlings are your best friends.
Mech armies are tough tough tough.
Of course I fell in love with ratlings when facing mech Space wolves when on the first turn of a game I not only hit a Rhino, but rolled 6 on armor penetration hit and then a 5 on the D3 roll to penetrate. Then after after my opponent failed his cover save, I rolled a 6 on the damage resolution chart.
BOOM! goes the rhino.
And i fall in love with ratlings.
Fifth Edition Saved 40k for Me. I love my ratlings and my cover saves!
