Hey there everyone, putting together my first Pred and I was wondering what your opinions are on which one is better to have. All opinions are welcomed. Thanks!
Well it really depends on the situation and what enemy you plan on fighting post of the time. It also really depends on how your army is structured. For instance, if you have Marines running around with a lot of anti tank, then the Auto Cannon is probably the better bet. However if most of your Marines are made for taking out other troops then the lascannon is the better option. I always liked the Pred with a twin linked Lascannon and then Heavy Bolter Side Sponsons, but with the new codex a pred can be really cheap with the auto cannon / heavy bolter set up.
I think you need to be asking yourself a) who will I be fighting most of the time and b) are my marines going to be outfitted for anti tank or troops.
Hope this helps.

Imperial Guard = Soviet Army? Me thinks so.
Also dont glue anny wepons in place, magnetize then instead. Leaving the choise open for future lists =D
I pretty much put all lascannons on mine. Bolter spam from your marines will handle most swarms. If you want a vehicle to deal with hordes, get the whirlwind. A great deal cheaper. I need my predator to take out the Monstrous Creatures, Leman russes, Landraiders, and other tough to penetrate armor.
For an anti-tank LR, I'd use Autocannon and sponson lascannons. For anti-infantry, go for Autocannon+HB or tl'd lascannon+hb for heavier enemies. I find the tl'd las+las sponsons aren't worth it because it costs so much for marginally better anti-tank than the autocannon+las sponsons.

anti tank lassies anti horde auto cans
The lascannon turret and sponsons are horrendously overpriced. And even then, lascannons aren't as good at popping tanks as they used to be, it's all about the meltas now.
I like the cheap dakka Predator (autocannon and heavy bolters). 85 points nets you an AV13 tank that spits out 8 decent strength shots per turn.
Magnetizing is your best bet, that way you can switch back to lascannons when 6th edition rolls out and the auto/hb Pred gets nerfed into oblivion.
