In my army, I use several of the special character rules, but I create my own characters and fluff stories to go along with the rules. Here are some of the characters I have made:
Colonel Winters (Straken):
Commanding officer of the Gallofrean Task Force I.
When fighting to save home planet Gallofree from Ork invasion, he lost his left arm in ship-board combat, resulting in it being replaced with a bionic arm. Winters joined as a recruit, and was quickly selected for the Gallofrean Special Forces. During the 3rd Ork War, his actions to muster the system defences and save Gallofree lead to his field commissioning, and eventually, his placement as commanding officer of the GTF I.
Winters is the basic officer with power sword and plasma pistol, but somewhat changed around. I gave him the lightning claws from SM commander box as his bionic arm (was powerfist in old dex), and his PP is from SM commander box too.
Gunnery Sergeant Luttrell (Harker):
A long time veteran of the Gallofrean Special Forces (GSF) Recon Team, Harper has many a scar to show from each of the numerous conflicts he has taken part in. Never one to turn his back on the enemy, Harper is renown for his infamous heavy bolter; legend has it that he held ground against an entire wave of Orks with just his bolter, and his custom attached chain-bayonet.
Luttrell was created using new command bits from both Cadian and Catachan boxes. The heavy bolter is a stubber customed into a human managable heavy bolter with a chainsword bayonnet.
Staff Sergeant Perkins (Bastonne):
A life time friend of the commander, S. Srgt Perkinsand Winters grew up and joined the ranks together. When they were fighting to defend Gallofree during the legendary 3rd Ork War, when Winters' actions to save the planet got him a field commissioning, Perkins was along side him the entire time. When Winters lost his arm, it was Perkins who carried him alone, fighting his way back through the chaotic coridors of the ork ship, to save him.
Perkins was my first well-made custom. Designed as a Vet Sarge in the old codex, his storm bolter will now "count-as" his hot shot las pistol.
Guardsman Murphy (Marbo):
As a young Sergeant Winters was leading a team of GSF on a sabotage mission, Guardsman Murphy was recognized by the young sergeant as having potential tp be a candidate for the Gallofrean Blacks (GBs). The GBs are a shadowy group of indivuals, chosen from the ranks of the GSF, they are taken into top secret training that lasts over 2 years. When they come out, they operate alone, often taking on tasks that are deemed impossible for anyone else. Since his GB training, Guardsman Murphyhas been the most sucessful graduate, and is always by Winters' side; doing whatever is asked of him.
Murphy was created from Cadian/Catachan bits kit bashed together. Grenades and pouches adorn his webbing, and his ripper gun is crafter from a custom modded lasgun.
Artillery Forward Observer (MoO):
An member of the GSF attached to the Artillery Regiments, the Forward Observer is trained to *precisely* bring heavy shells down onto the enemy in a conflict.
I like, but don't love the GW MoO, so I decided to create my own. With the great coat and beret, I gave him the forward observer/ recon type look. I used some basic repositioning of arms, so he was speaking into hand and reading a map.
Lt Vasquez (Al'Rahem):
A new addition to Winters' force, the recently commissioned Vasquez has already shown great ability as a flanker and amusher. During a recent conflict, Winters' awarded Vasquez with his old power sword, a symbol of great prestige. (Winters can no longer use it since his *accident*).
Vasquez was created as a JO in the old codex to lead my light infantry platoon. With the release of Al'Rahem, he just fit so perfectly, so I decided to use him.
I know its a lot. Any comments/suggestions/tips etc?
Thanks for looking.
Lol...Colonel Winters & Lt Vasquez looks like they're were blue pajamas with penguins.
Thats the color scheme for my army
Its a snowy-type camo thing with gray armor. Most of the troops have it, but the vets were black fatigues w/ gray armor and blue shoulder pads instead.
My brother, who plays orcs, calls it "cloud pajamas"
it does look really comical personally though i think they look like snowmen with horns not penguins. dude you so have to convert a 3 mod circular sentinel with hat -oh my various heathen gods it's chaos born frosty!
(it so fits i always said frosty had to be animated by serious dark magic, his nefarious plan is to make every generation wimpier through his gay songs)
on a serious note though ur stand-in straken needs a re-work on his arm the lightning claw does not look right at all (i mean dude seriously his fist is bigger than his torso, he would need to put a wheel on it just to get around!)

Believe in me, even if we are torn apart our feelings will unite us that is what this post is all about.
There isnt anything wrong with your snow colour scheme, I didnt see it as pajamas. I like your conversions though gj
"To Triumph without Risk, is to Conquer without Glory!"
Have you seen Yarick's Power claw? It is bigger, and doesn't have a wheel.on a serious note though ur stand-in straken needs a re-work on his arm the lightning claw does not look right at all (i mean dude seriously his fist is bigger than his torso, he would need to put a wheel on it just to get around!)Thanks. Right now I'm working on painting the rest of the army up.There isnt anything wrong with your snow colour scheme, I didnt see it as pajamas. I like your conversions though gj
