so my question is this...can you use special ammunition for stormbolters then, they do afterall use bolter rounds, just 2, per shot instead of 1.
there is no logic for not being able to use them IMHO.
I know you can use them for combi-bolters, but there is no mention of storm bolters.
thinking along the lines of hellfire rounds, which I belive can be used in any bolter weapon, including heavy bolters, and storm bolters, then could special ammo be used if the sternguard squad uses a heavy bolter.....hmmm.
Even if you could use special ammo for storm bolters, you're no better off than normal bolters. From the entry for special issue amunition rule:
"each special ammunition type replaces the boltgun profile"
if you were to strictly go by RAW, then the profiles for the special ammo in the codex list them as rapid fire weapons. If you use special ammo, you have to use the special ammo profile - this makes your weapon a rapid fire type weapon regardless of the original bolter type (assault 2 storm bolter).
And this is, if you were even able to use it on storm bolters in the first place.
It would be great to have special issue ammo on storm bolters, and would make sense, but that's RAW for ya.
As for hellfire amunition,
Hellfire ROUNDS may be used with the BOLTGUN and Combi-bolter only
Hellfire SHELLS may be used with HEAVY BOLTER only
This gives nothing to bolt pistols and storm bolters, again by RAW
Hope this helps
