I've spent a good deal of time painting a DE and Tau army, but the army i've always wanted to paint was guard, and not just any guard, but an all Mordian Iron Guard army. Sure it'll cost a lot, and take awhile, but im gonna do it, for the sake of originality. Only thing is, I wanna make it totally true to fluff (in unit selection and doctrines and what not). I'm pretty much planning on using the Close Order Drill doctrine, but what think you guys on vehicles and unit selection?

well i was planning on making a mordian iron guard untill i saw the new cadian models and was like forget it, but what i wanted to do was make a MIG army based on the dark side of their planet since their planet doesnt move. so what i wanted to do was paint them dark colours and give them the light infantry and close order drill doctrines because i wanted to make them a very stealthy and quick/quiet army. for units i would take lots of troops, sentinals are good and they seem like they might fit in a stealthy army, for tanks, prob either 3 bassies (nobody would ever really see it in real life, just explosions right next to them :lol or mabye 3 battle ranks with nothing special on them(mordians like simple things and symmatry(sp) for elites, hardend vets are good, stormies are also good, and ratlings are another good choice, i wouldnt use anything else

I want to start a Iron Guard army, but I cant find the freakin models anywhere. I looked in my catalog and they are are listed under "classic" range.
Tact is for people who give a damn. I'm not one of those people.

Interesting. Yeah I actually have been planning on painting them up to look like my high school's marching band uniforms (their uniforms are almost identical to ours. White pants, Navy blue jackets with red trim, and white brimmed hats with a silver emblem on the front). But since it appears that the mordians are more of a planetary defense force of some kind, I was planning on using as many stationary, long range, heavy weapons platforms; Such as three bassilisks for instance. I like stormtroopers, but I just dont think they'd fit in very well into a planetary defense force such as the iron guard.

Stormies could be elite fast reaction teams or something like that.

stormies are the marines they send in first as scouts. make the colors either bright or dark, i would try looking in rogue traders, i stopped by one the other day and they had MIG and the "classic" range for 50% off !
