I'm trying to decide between 5 Celestians and a Canoness in an Immolator, or 8 Celestians, a Canoness and a Priest in a Rhino as an HQ. Is a priest worth taking in a celestian squad for the reroll to hit, or am I better off taking an Immolator as a transport?
I always take the Immolator.
I love my Cannoness plus 5 celestians with 2 meltas in a naked Immolator. They usually are quite effective.
I would pretty much say no to priests, as you should almost never charge with Sisters (except Seraphim).
I'm trying to catalog every song with a reference to yetis or Sasquatch. Please help.
If you consider you can set it up to have 10 rerolling eviscerator swings (or 4 blessed weap + 6 eviscerator) on the charge, it can in fact be a lot of fun to load up a retinue like that The 5E take on the 'true' retinue is also of great benefit.
It's not nearly 'worth it' in terms of the pts cost (well over 300 pts before you even add the transport) if you're just mathhammering the army, but such is life with absolutely every entry in Codex: WH besides Battle Sister Squad and Seraphim. People will definitely be caught off guard by that much hitting power from an SoB unit. The problem is what happens if their rhino gets popped early? Your 300+ point unit will likely not make it to a worthwhile target.
I may be mistaken since I don't have my codex but blessed weapons are limited to 1 per army I'm quite sure.
When I stared SoB I was using Celestian Retinues on my Cannoness and using and Immo, but they rarely got to do enough damage to make up the points. I definitely prefer keeping her by herself and giving her a jet pack and letting her just drop into people and wreacking havoc solo.
I have mine in a celestian squad with a banner more for support and wound taking. It would depend what doing with the clestians to what i would advise
