    Building Ultramarines Chapter

    Well I have 4,000+ points of space marines and I want to do Ultramarines Chapter because I enjoy the jack of all trades feel to them.

    And for some reason that I can't explain I just feel inclined to make this army be 'fluffy' while competitive. So I looked at the codex and saw that they have a nice breakdown of the Ultramarines Chapter and each company's composition as well as the name of their Captain. So since I want to build the chapter I sat down and came up with several lists to represent each company in the ultramarines chapter. However I have read zero fluff other than the few entries in the codex and I wanted your help in making suggestions of what to add/remove/edit in each company's list that I made.

    This is going to be quite big so feel free to only give me tips for specific company's that you want. Any help is better than no help! So all help is appreciated.
    I specially need help in figuring out what wargear/weapons to give each captain I tried to change it around so no captain has the exact same wargear as another.

    All the following lists are for 1,000 point armies. (I felt it would be easier for people to suggest things if i kept it small to begin with)

    Notes: I thought there should be an extra company to field chaplains and librarians together as the leaders. Maybe like an Inquisitional company or something? Anyway this is what I thought would work. Having each join a unit and leap into CC with one of them able to ride the Land Raider. I also thought flamers would be appropiate for the 'theme' of the list.

    I think the Librarians, Chaplains, Apothecaries and other such specialists form their own groups as part of the HQ Company, alongside all the administrative staff and whatnot. I know all the Librarians in a Chapter form something called a "Librarius", which I'm assuming is part of the HQ Company rather than a seperate entity within the Chapter. You probably wouldn't be able to make a functional army list out of something like that though, unless you make the Scribes, Clerks and Adjutants into Tactical Marines or something, so the easiest way to do it would be to just assign Librarians and Chaplains to Companies where you need them, or think you're likely to use them. It's an ambitious project but it looks good so far.


    Also, I'd be careful about putting points costs for individual models and bits of wargear in your army lists. People get antsy about that.

    I love ultrasmurfs. I'll comment when I get a chance but I just wanted to give you a heads up that you might get busted for points values in those pics.

    Also, Idaeus bit the bullet. I think Ventris is now the captain (but I havent read the 3rd and 4th ultramarines book so for all I know it's changed)

    Yeah friend. The points per item, and more specifically the unit stats will get the pics removed.

    I know its probably a pain but you may have to type it out, in Word/notepad. Or you could photoshop the images and blur the unit stats and individual point costs.

    By the way, what program is that giving you the nice breakdown.

    Yeah i read about ventris but in the new codex it lists Idaeus as the captain of the 4th company so i used his name.

    And I used army builder (gotta love that program). Give it a shot.

    I don't think your 2000 point list is good, mostly because you have 2 troop choices. 1850 generally required atleast 3 troop choices, and while we have the ability to break those squads down into 2, it still wont be enough. I would consider taking out probably 5 Assault Terminator to make room for atleast another tactical squad.

    Otherwise, if your just playing to play, GL but you'll have problems in objectives based missions, which is played 2/3
