    Vets vs Termies

Would there be any advantages to taking 10 company veterans all with storm shields and melta bombs, 3 with PF, over 5 deathwing terminators with LC\SS\TH, im running the DA codex and can only have 5 termies per unit.

    the 10 vets cost 325
    the termies cost 215

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I agree with Mechman, I'd be hard pressed not to take the Terminators with TH/SS. The unit may be half the size of the Vets but the Terminators have better saves and a boatload of high strength attacks, especially when coupled with a Chaplain on the charge.

The only thing I would mention is the cost to deliver this threat, should be accounted for.

The Vets could take a Rhino, Drop Pod.
The Terminators are stuck with a Land Raider, or DS

For the Vets, either mode of transport eliminates assault, immediately and would have to weather a turn of fire.

For the Terminators, the only method that would allow them to assault on the move is the LR. Just something when talking about which is better/more cost effective. You need to think about how you are going to get there.

Don't forget that you can assault IF the vehicle stays stationary. So the rhino rush, smoke launchers, hope for the best tactic can work but your guys can be potentially screwed if your transport gets popped. If the transport manages to stay alive you can get out safely and charge away.

not to mention the fact that DW terms are fearless so theyre going to hang around until the bitter end. that causes no amount of grief to players counting on broken troops to pull through. oh there is also the nice advantage of them being scoring units

ofc you can always stick the vets in a LR as well to allow them to charge on the move....
