I don't really plan on buying either of them soon but I was wondering which the majority thinks is better
sternguard every time. the ability for having different types of ammo really beats the possibility of assaulting from deep strike
Once a Marine, always a Marine.
Point for point I'll take Sternguard any day of the week. If used properly they can decimate whole squads in a single turn.

Sternguard are better, although I would only take them in a list with Kantor. Lysanders bolter drill would be useful in that list too.
IG Best Gen 1st overall of 10 DE 4th overall of 6
Eldar 3rd Overall/Best General of 26--2nd Overall/Best General of 7--1st Overall/Best General of 11
has anyone taken 30 of them before with pedro. HAve u SEEN any before
Sternguard are the best, used them with Pedro and Lysander(for the bolter Drill). Prefer them with Lysander as you get to roll misses in shooting more hits means more kills for the good guys.
For The Great Father and the Emperor!!!!
If it can bleed it can be killed and if it can be killed then by the Emperor we'll be the one's to do it!!!
Most people say sternguard because vanguard aren't n00b friendly, but vanguard when used properly (with sensible equipment) curbstomp so many things that sternguard struggle with.
