I, like many of you, have purchased many a metal special weapon blister to get plasma and melta guns. I just came across this product from games workshop. It's 5 melta or plasma guns for $6. Sure, you need to use a trooper for it, but that's about half cost.
I know this is more of a modeling topic, but it seems to be more specific to guard because we need so many special weapons.
Nice, It's about time GW did something nice instead of just screwing us.
The Tyranid torpedo? Its a giant facehuger cannon. It fires an army of facehugers at the other ships. It should cause fear.
They've done them for ages haven't they? I think they were one of the first bitz packs GW did after it got rid of part order.
GW screwed us? I sincerly hope not. I've been to those manager meetings and theres not many blokes below 20stone. *shudders*
They have had these for ages, I saw them years back when i was building another army (forget which one). I can't be bothered with them really, bit too much effort for my busy schedule, but still a nice gesture.
simplest way of using them is to use the plastice grenade launcher arms set. Remove the grenade launcher with clippers, put in its place a plasma or melta gun and voila. If you look closely to the new command squad box set, you can see that is pretty much how the plasma gunner is.
Where the heck did all them guardsmen come from?
Great Wolf! Is that the howl of the 13th?
I got the cadian and catchan command boxes
The Plasma guns and melta guns are identical to the space marine ones (meltas have a little tab on them where the left arm joins, but it's highly minor.)
I used alot of my SM special weapons
Oh, and SM scout sniper rifles.

I tend to just mod the special weapons. Take an autocannon ammo pack for a larger vehicle (it's a half-cylinder) and paint it with blue stripes, and glue it to a soldiers back. Then take a flamer and remove the igniter and pipes, and you have a passable plasma gunner. Paint it red for melta =D
Of course some games won't allow this...
I do something like Naexic - I use the ammo thing for the autocannon from the heavy weapons sprue, connect it to a lasgun with a bit of wire, and build up the top of the lascun with GS and sculpt a little. For meltaguns I use a flamer as the base and add a melta nozzle (either modelled or scavenged).
I trade spare Lascannons to SM players for Melta/Plasma guns.
Thanks for posting this, these are going to save me a lot of time and effort. I won't have to convert flamers anymore!
