So, in my current armored list, I need to add anti-tank, and both land speeders and attack bikes fit the theme.
So, I'm wondering what does LO think of each one? I've heard people claim that each is better than the other, but haven't really heard reasoning why. They can both turboboost for cover saves, they both have a BS4 multi-melta... they can both move 12" and fire that multi-melta. What are the merits for each over the other? Is a mixture better or worse?
Voted for Attack Bike.
Ok well I've been playing Space Marines for a few years now and I've always used Speeders, usually just one or two and I'd also just deep strike them where I needed them. However after talking with some people they've pointed out how Attack Bikes can be more durable. Sure you can deep strike with the Land Speeder which can be VERY useful sometimes. But the turb boost on the Attack Bike really helps it. But if you can move 12, pop a tank with that multi melta and then charge into close combat with your Bike(s) then they won't get shot to hell the following turn, which usually happens with Land Speeders that DS in. Really it's up to you and your play style.

Imperial Guard = Soviet Army? Me thinks so.
The advantages of the Land speeder is it's ability to ignore terrain, deep strike, and capability to equip a second heavy weapon, for example, a heavy flamer for dual purpose hunting.
The advantages of the Attack bikes are that they are cheaper and easier to hide out of LOS, and can assault if necessary.
Both have their merits, but I'd settle for the Land speeder.

Thanks for the link!
Because WB's have a toughness stat it's easier to take them out with light weapons than a land speeder.
Also you can ensure you can get to your target and no units or terrain is going to block your movement.
They are both very good anti-tank weapons. But in your case, you said you were mechanized. So I'm thinking a bunch of rhinos, a predator or two with a vindicator. Or some combination of such. With that much armor on the table, the last thing I think your enemy is going to be worried about is/are your speeder(s).
With an attack bike around and not many other infantry on the board, most of the anti-infantry will only have that as a target. While having a better than average toughness, volume of fire will still wound it.
Just as an example, 30 men firing lasguns at a bike will most likely kill it. 30 men firing lasguns at a speeder won't even hurt it. (yes, this is an extreme example, as with heavy weapons and such may be involved.)
Offense Winner tie
-Both have multi meltas at the same BS
-Both ca move 12" and fire
-AB has a twin-linked bolter, you never know
-AB can attack back in assault, but will probobly die anyway
-LS has a better chance of seeing its target, or seeing it out of cover because of the flying base
-Can have firing impared by damage results
Durability Winner AB
-AB has a high toughness value and multiple wounds
-AB has power armour
-AB gets a 3+ invul save when turbo boosting, and can easily benefit from a 4+ cover save
-LS has a low armour value, many weapons can't hurt it but some can knock off a weapon, preven it from firing, or take it out of the air without much trouble
-LS can move 12" for a cover save
-LS is hit on a 6 in assault but vulnerable to grenades
-Enemies have an easier time seeing and thus shooting at the LS
Manouverability Winner LS
-AB can move 24" and not fire or 12" and fire
-LS ca move 24" and not fire or 12" and fire
-AB can speed up on roads (or is that only actual vehicles, sometimes im so confused )
-LS can fly over terrain
-AB takes a dangerous terrain test for moving through terrain
-LS takes a dangerous terrain test for landing in or taking off in terrain
-LS can deep strike
-AB must set up normally
Your choice, personally I like the attack bike, my speeder never seems to last long.

I voted attack bikes - but I like landspeeders too!
But yeah, attack bikes for what has already been stated- I just find them more versatile, and slightly more durable.
Not much else I can add to the conversation that hasn't already been said.
More than that, that they can turboboost up to that total straight through terrain, taking a dangerous terrain test (but who cares if they suffer a wound, they have 2!)
Cheers in advance.

Also, you should google "garfield minus garfield". Awesome.
Attack bikes are better and cheaper too
