Are V.Dreaders worth it or just to pricey for there 1+ BS,WS and venerable rule?
Or would you rather just have normal dreadnoughts because i was thinking about getting 3 V.dreaders and 3 iron clads or do you think that would be to pricey?
I don't know how V. Dreadnoughts mesh with normal Space Marines, but if it's anything like the Templars use, it's a godsend. Any re-rolls on the Damage chart? Yes please! The guys I play hate it so much, they go to the effort of killing my other non-venerable (we only get one a detachment, boo!) Dreadnought first even though they are setup the same (Black Reach style). Mr Ork Nob and his stupid Power Klaw can suck it, so can Rail-guns. Maybe Vanilla Space Marines can get somethign extra tasty for the cost of Venerable, but in my army it's always an upgrade. I think in total, the thing has actually been destroyed just the once. Immobilised a couple times, yeah, but only once outright destroyed.
In my experience, venerable Dreads have much greater survivability but they're still rendered combat-ineffective as readily as the standard variety. The reroll is nice for when you get a 'destroyed' result but it's a harder call to risk death instead of accepting lost weapons or mobility. If your main use of Dreadnoughts is as a fire magnet or you have bad dice luck then venerability is worth it, otherwise you're better off fitting another Dread in.
If I was facing your proposed loadout, I would target the non-siege dreads first, venerable or not.

The damage re-roll has saved me countless times with my Ven.Dred. It gives you that satisfaction of popping your opponents joy bubble after they roll a destroyed result. "Hey, can you re-roll that for me? My Ven.Dred doesnt like that result." Its all up to how many points you can spare. Running SW, I usually take a Ven.Dred as an HQ choice anyways.
I love the Venerable Dread (it's a whole new unit type for Vanilla Marines, rather than an upgrade) - especially if you've got extra armour.
I usually make people re-roll any result of 3+, because I'd rather risk a broken dreadnaught than have mine crippled, especially once it's lost it's main gun.
I love the Blood Angel version as it is very cheap compared to the new marine dex. This makes the Furioso much harder to bring down.
I like the SW version. BS5 assault cannons? Nice. Extra attack over the SM one? Even better. The fact that its cheaper than the vannila ven dread? Excellent.....
I always take mine, if not just because I like the way it looks (and I've got the actual SW ven dread model).

Then 3 venerables IT IS!!!! I dont think ive ever seen some with 3 V.dreaders either so ill be the first in my local GW to do it.
Gonna get that Ultramarines one off forgeworld for my 3rd and let them go wild on a horde army, ACs and HFs blazing.
