I was just reading the techpriest entry, and it seems that since he repairs vehicles in his own shooting phase, any vehicle in a squadron that gets hit in the opponent's phase and immobilized would be destroyed before he can fix it. Even if he happens to be in base contact when it is hit, the vehicle is destroyed before he can try to fix it.
And if you use him to repair a weapon destroyed, it can't fire until the following shooting phase, so the enemy could just keep destroying the weapon and the techpriest could keep fixing it until the game ends, and the weapon may as well have been destroyed for good the first time.
It seems to me that his repair ability would only be worth it if it could repair immobilized vehicles in squads before they are removed, and if it allowed weapons to be fired in the same phase they were repaired. As it stands, what the hell is he even good for? xx points to get lone chimerae to maybe move again?
That's why not a lot of people pick him in their armies. He's not good at fixing squads, and considering he can only move 6", the tanks have got to be very close to each other for him to even do any good. Otherwise, it'd take him probably 2 turns to even reach the vehicle.
well an immobilized is only destroyed if the vehicle is in a squadron. But he is generally considered a waste of points compared to something you can actually kill the enemy with.
Most Notable Achievements:
Killed a Revenant Titan in one shot.
Killed 900 pts worth of Blood Angels in 2 turns while only loosing 4 pts.
I actually have used him with good results. I put him with a squadron of 2 artillery pieces, so that he is touching base with both in between them. Very good at keeping them in the game, and the opponent can waste alot of shots trying to kill them. I have used him with marines in the same way with whirlwinds.
A russ or basi without its main cannon is not much of a threat to most opponents, but when the priest repairs it they need to shoot at it again.
This isn't quite how it goes for all vehicles but in a list with enough armored targets the priest could be a pain in the enemy's arse.
The Tyranid torpedo? Its a giant facehuger cannon. It fires an army of facehugers at the other ships. It should cause fear.
Hey, wouldn't be an IG codex if the Enginseer wasn't useless
He might be nice with some bassies though, keeping them fireing?
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.

Thats an amusing statement, -cough- point heavy ogryns -cough-
No but really the seer is a fun piece. Some people believe it or not play this game and build their armies to have fun with. I mean if I was to run a mech army with tons of tanks I would bring one or two just for the fluff and hey they might do something cool, never know.
