I have not used the hunter killer missile yet. Anyone think it is worth the pointes put into it. Is it worth poping on a few dreads or tanks and saying hey you never know. I could see where in a drop pod force a few dreads sending these into the rear end of some armor upon landing would be nice.
Generally, I wouldn't get it. There's a lot of upgrades out there that's better. Extra armor, dozers, upgrades for other units, etc. Besides, they're limited by mobility. If you move, you can either fire your main gun or the missile (unless it's a fast vehicle). And if you (w/non-fast vehicles) move over 6", you can't fire it at all.
I like them on Ironclad Dreadnaughts, as they can fire both of them in the same turn.
They're also quite good on non-Whirlwind vehicles you don't plan on moving much (basically Preds) but on Whirlwinds or Transport vehicles they're a big pile of arse. Quite often I'd reach the end of the game and realise I'd still not fired them.
Ironclad dreads are one of the most equipped, as they can come down, pop a vehicle, then proceed to mince their primary target.
I've taken HKs on my predator and even my vindicator, they are a cheap insurance for that extra penetrating hit, or to nail that distanced speeder or other light vehicle giving you problems.
Good stuff guys. I plan on using them on dreads and not on other vehicles. That seems to be where you can get the best use out of them. I figured that since the Ironclad only has the melta instead of a multi it couldn't hurt to have a little extra anti-tank reach.
Hunter-Killer Missiles have their place, but generally, there are better options available.
If you're building a list that doesn't have very much anti-armor fire, but has a lot of vehicles anyway, an initial barrage of HK missiles can make your assault more effective.
Several years ago, I played a mechanized infantry Imperial Guard list that was basically all Chimaeras and Troopers. Every vehicle had an HK on it, and the fourteen HKs popped every tank my opponent brought, so he had to stand still while I rolled forward and fired, pulled back and fired again.
Given the right list, a Space Marine army could do the same, but they'd still be playing along a theme and not very efficiently.
WHFB: Dwarfs || WH40k: Imperial Fists, Necrons || WM/H: Trollbloods || BFG: Necrons
I've used them in the past with not much success. It's a hit or miss weapon (no pun there). I just feel it's a waste unless you did something like the guy mentioned that he did with his Imperial Guard.

Imperial Guard = Soviet Army? Me thinks so.
I used to use them early on attached to my Predator or Rhinos after I dropped off my troops, but either I forgot all about it or it missed anyway. As you and others already said your best be is on your Dreadnoughts.
