Space Marine Bike option?
A lot more Terminators option?
I've been in a constant struggle over what direction I should take in the final phase of my Space Marine (Salamanders) collection. I could use some serious advice on two major additions I'm considering.
Here's my collection thus far (Painted, converted etc...):
5 x TH/SS Terminators
15 x Sterguard (Magnetized Cobi-Weapons, 2 x Plasma Cannons and 2 x Heavy Flamers)
40 x Tactcial Marines (Tons of magnets here too)
2 x Ironclads
3 x Attack Bikes (Quad conversions)
1 x Thunderfire Cannon
1 x Land Raider Redeemer/Crusader
2 x Dakka Predators
2 x Vindicators (Magnetized Siege Shields and Dragon heads as gun barrels)
3 x Rhinos
2 x Razorbacks (Magnetized Heavy Bolters, Lascannons and Heavy Flamers)
3 x Drop Pods
Ok so, yes, I've got a TON of stuff here, but as I said I'm also a collector. I've also always wanted a Space Marine army. I'm up to my ears in fluff and have plenty of units to create some good "Vulkan" lists.
Here are two directions I'm considering going for my FINAL addition to the collection:
1. 1 x Space Marine Captain on Bike, 2 x Space Marine Bike Squads, a Unique Hero to act as Pedro, another Attack Bike and a few magnetized Land Speeders. This is a "Bikes" as scoring units approach. It seems fun and competitive.
2. 20+ Terminators (mostly Shooty and magnetized), a counts as Belial model, another Land Raider (not sure which variant) and 2 x Dreadnoughts. This is obviously a "Deathwing" rule approach.
I'm honestly torn on my choices here. I would do both, but I'm cutting myself off here. I'd like the choice to be pretty competitive and obviously it doesn't have to be fluffy at all. I understand a lot of this personal opinion, but I'd truly appreciate some honest feedback.
Thanks for the help!
P.S. I added a poll as well.
Bike squads are pretty good units, especially when used with a bike Captain. It's a project I'm going to start with my Salamanders too. Load 'em up with meltas and hammers with a Relic blade Captain and your set with a Relentless, fast scoring unit.
Also, as you have not Land speeders I'd recommend them when you have the points to take them over Attack bikes. Kit them out with MM/HF and you have a great, multi-purpose hunting unit.

Yeah , option one seems the best overall.
And like Chirality pointed out with a couple storm shields/ thunder hammers/ flamers/ meltas (Twin linked with Vulkan !) good grief man ; Expensive unit ,but just the thought of it hurts!

Go with the termies, they're more Salamander themed. The Salamanders like close range fire fights, static firepower that's why they like their flame and melta weapons. Bikes are fast moving reconasince unis, not a perfect fit with a stand and fight army.
Besides deathwing rules are pretty sweet, (i want to try em out). This option's even lighter on your wallet which can't be a downside.

Thanks for the replies!
I too am leaning towards the Bike option. I'm not too concerned with fluff at this point. I've got plenty haha. Ofcourse, taking advantage of Vulkan's abilities doesn't hurt. I most likely would not run him with the bikes though, maybe at 2000pt+ games, but anything lower would be too HQ heavy.
I voted terminators as they are more salamander themed, compared to a bike squad. But if it was Ultramarines, for example, I would've gone for the bikes as they are better overall than the terminators, as I find that termis are too expensive.
Theme wise Salamanders hardly use bikers, as the weight of gravity on there planet makes the task rather difficult. This was represented well in the Armageddon list, which you can reference if you want.
Considering people stick Lysander and Shrike together in the same army, though, I guess you can throw theme out of the window if you so choose.
TH/SS Termies would definitely be a fluffy and potent fit with your current army.
But I voted Bikes, simply because I love the quad-bike conversions I've seen around ^-^ But then again, if you don't plan on making Space Marine 4x Wheelers, I suppose my vote would be shifted to the Terminator option.
I've recently become a fan of this thing called Dubstep. And you should too.
