A question regarding armoured sentinels. To begin with, let us leave off the question of why I want to take armoured sentinels at all, simply let it suffice that I am taking them.
The question I have is what I should arm them with; currently I have them armed with converted autocannon, but I am tempted to rearm them with multilasers (for both aesthetic reasons and to take advantage of the higher rate of fire). With a little work I can pull off lascannons and possibly even missile launchers or heavy flamers (though plasma would be very difficult).
What should I give them, or should I just stick with the autocannon?

In all honesty it depends what you want from them.
If you want them to get stuck into hoards of infantry and tie them up in combat either the multilaser or flamer to keep them cheap and to kill what they're going up against.
If you want them to be your mobile tank hunters then lascannons are ideal if expensive. Where as Autocannons are cheap and are a decent all rounder weapon but lack the punch to take down the heavier stuff. I wouldn't bother with the Missile launcher. For 5pts more you get a lascannon.......which is better. Plus i really hate the missile launcher model. Bleh.
I've run lascannon and hunter killer Armoured sentinels and they're an awesome little unit. Taking down transports with ease and then holding up nasty command squads in combat for all eternity.
Plasma cannon all the way. Having another unit that can dish out damage to meq is important. If your Leman Russes are stun, you still have plasma cannon sentinels that can dish out alot of damage.
I'll agree with two people and say Plasma cannon or heavy flamer. Any other weapon I'd prefer to have on a scout so it's cheaper and can outflank. My prefered weapon for sentinels in general is the autocannon though.
Depends on what the rest of your army looks like too as both of those options are pretty niche.
Armoured Sentinels are best armed with plasmacannons. If you are going to take sentinels then it is best to have them hunting enemy transports mainly because these are your highest priority as the longer your opponants have to spend running across the board to your infantry the more turns you have shooting.
The plasmacannon also allows you to deal with enemy infantry effectively as well so they really do earn their points back especially if you take 3 of them.
If however you are running low on points then autocannons are an effective balance of anti-infantry and anti-tank as it is also strength 7.
