If you split a 10 men tac squad into 2 combat squads can you still have the flamer on one of the SM. Also how does this work in respect to KP. The reason I ask is I want to transport a 5 man combat squad (one with a flamer) in a razorback. Can this be done?
Basically you buy a whole complete 10-man tact squad with all weapons and upgrades. Then you split them up into 2. An example would be a 5-man combat squad with Lascannon as a static shooting base, and another 5-man combat squad with flamer/meltagun and a power weapon/fist in a rhino/razorback as a mobile force to go after objects.
Each combat squad is a KP, so in annihilation games, it's better to keep them together.
Yes, perfectly legal. And it would be 2 KPs then. The unit is purchased from the Force Organization chart as 1 troops selection, but when placed as combat squads they are each their own unit from that point forward.
I tend to split my tacticals and charge up the flank with the fist/flamer in the razorback myself. If you can get there before the razorback bites the dust, then it provides a nice firebase and cover, for reinforcements as they approach.
