    Bane Wolf

So someone's probably noted this earlier, but I haven't been able to find a thread about it.

Bane Wolf's Chem Cannon wounds on a 2+, but it's stated as "STR 1".. Technically even though it's the vehicle's main weapon, it counts as a Defensive weapon. Anybody see any errors in this logic?

So, as a fast tank the bane wolf can move 12" and fire two templates(Assuming you trade the H.Bolter for an H.Flamer) plus a stubber.

A tank with 2 template weapons is not goin to get to fire for at least a turn while it closes with the enemy, so it needs to make up for it by firing a lot when it gets there!

Also the 5th edition poisonned rules alow you to reroll the wound if your strength is equal or greater than the enemy toughness. Making it S1 stops this happenning against virtually all opponents and makes the poisonned gas unable to hurt vehicles which makes sense.

Not to mention it'll probably get to fire once, and then get shot/assaulted to hell. HARDLY overpowered. In my opinion it's the worst of the Hellhound variants due to the range. You just can't expect to drive an AV12 vehicle the close and survive.

never said there was a problem, OR that it was OP, just making sure I wasn't missing something.

BW is still a great tank, but you need to hold it back behind your other tanks. When an enemy unit gets too close, BAM slap them w/ it (backed up w/ some Chimera hull HFs).

Well, considering the difference in AP and 5th edition wound allocation, I'm sure that many times you won't want to fire the hull weapon if you're firing the turret weapon (anything with 3+Sv, basically).

And as for viability, I've been toying with the idea of using Creed to outflank a squad of 2-3 with hull Multi-Meltas. Could be horrifying!

Either way hellhound series was never meant to roll around and gas tanks to death. Problem with bane wolf is its so darn expensive for what it does, if anything it should cost the same as the Devil Dog - maybe even les than that....

Yep, hellhound is still the king of the hill. The only thing really good about the bane wolf is that you have the fluff for it, who wouldnt want a tank running around gasing infantry?
