So what do you believe is the best Special/Heavy Weapon Combo in line squads?

I think it has to be the Grenade Launcher and Autocannon combo in a basic platoon squad; it's what, 65 points for a blast or str 6 krak and 2 str 7 shots? Great for both infantry and light and possibly medium-light vehicles. There certainly are "sexier" combos which include plasma, etc., but for the points and utility you really can't go wrong with the GL/AC combo.

Ravendove makes a good point too. For an extra 5 points you get a krak weapon with Str 8 to at least make a glance attempt against AV14 and with AP3 the krak can kill marines outright. For whatever reason I tend to play against MEq's and transport-heavy armies very often and therefore the frag blast from the Missile Launcher isn't as helpful for me, so I stick with the cheaper of the two heavy weapons, the Autocannon, and it does the job for me.
GL/AC is meh by itself.
I have a 50 50 mix of GL/AC sqads and Flamer/ML squads - and maybe the Melta/Las for lulz.
I place the GL/AC out in front, ML and LFmaer behnds.
When the first suqad goes, i will roast the enemy to bits.
I consider the following:
Mortar/GL So cheap and still able to dish out two blasts each turn.. Also pin chance..
AC/GL As been said already.. antitroop aswell as anti light vehicles
LC/- Kill tanks from afar
Might throw in a flamer from time to time in the LC squad.. waste most of the time though.. The missile launcher doesn't really appeal to me.. It's more expensive and I find it less potent against most targets compared to the AC..
The winner for me is the LC squads.. simply because my standard list needs antitank much more than antiinfantry and I don't wanna do a veterans army..
I like autocannons and lascannons. Autocannons are cheap and put out a couple high S shots to threaten light tanks, infantry, and even MEQs and MCs (wounding on a 2+ or 3+ helps). Lascannons are 5 points more than a missile launcher, and perform much better against tanks and MCs.

Thing is, against MEQ's I would rather have one shot at Wound 2+ no save, than two shots at Wound 2+ with save. Statistically, chances are better too. (0.41 wounds vs 0.27). Against Hordes, just get that blast template out. Vehicles, S8 beats S7.
