guys i need some help i am starting a new army and i cant decide between Blood angels or the Salamanders
I would go with Salamanders. The Blood Angels "army list" isn’t up to par with the new Space marine book, and they don’t get to use allot of the new stuff.
I’ve seen allot of Salamanders showing up to RTT's and they all seem to do really well. Usually ending the day in the top 3.
Blood Angels are more geared towards close combat while I consider the Salamanders to be more of a shooty army with lots of flamers and meltaguns.
If you take Vulcan all your flamers, meltas multimeltas and heavy flamers are twin linked and all thunder hammers are count as master crafted.
Do both. Why not make your own chapter up and just paint a Vulkan model to use the standard codex rules and then paint up a blood angels character etc to use their lists.
Quorn! - Protein for the Protein God.
Salamanders. Blood Angels are cool and all, but as someone's already pointed out their army list is half an Edition behind the Salamanders. Also free twin-linked multimeltas and mastercrafted Thunder Hammers are sick.
Definitely Salamanders. I've been playing them for nearly 9 years. Great fluff, and where else outside of the Inquisition can you find an army full of pyromaniacs.

You certainly picked two different armies.
Both of them have very cool backstories, but the Angels' story is better and they're probably the only Chapter who truly love and have hope for Mankind. The fact that they're also blood-crazed lunatics in combat makes their story that much more 'real'.
Something to consider, though, is that the Salamanders have overnight, thanks to one arguably over-powered special character, gone from being a virtually unheard of Chapter to one of the most common.
One of the fellows in my usual play circle has been playing Salamanders for years and has now given them up because he can't stand to see his army on the other side of the table just because everyone wants to use Vulkan.
If this doesn't bother you, then the choice should come down to how you like to play. If you like to close quickly with your opponent and overwhelm him in close-combat before he gets a chance to get everything in formation, pick the Angels. If you prefer a style of hit and fade tactics and forcing your opponent to make the hard choice of getting tangled in melee or continuing to get shot to bits, then the Salamnders are probably more your speed.
WHFB: Dwarfs || WH40k: Imperial Fists, Necrons || WM/H: Trollbloods || BFG: Necrons
It entirely depends on your style of play. I know for my Wolves, 5th edition, is a blessing for my army because of it being so much more friendly to H2H armies. However, it's not too kind for troopers carrying bolters. If you're a creative person, I think conversions will be a lot easier for Blood Angels. Also, in my personal taste, a red/black/gold army looks a lot better than a green and orange army. Then again, I play a blue army because that's just me! LOL!
Nope, still not done painting yet
No GW, not another price increase!
