i was thinking about small conversions i could do to my army, and i came up with an idea, however i don't know how viable it would be. Basically i was thinking of using a Space Cruiser, such as the one here, as my command squad. It would still use the same stats as the command squad (basically 4 lasguns, issues orders etc, except it would represent the command cruiser orbiting above a plant with the commander in it.
Any suggestions and comments greatly accepted.
The only way I can see this working practically, is if you still have models on the ground to represent the command squad, only painted in Imperial Navy colours like the officer of the fleet. One could conceptualize that the battle was being commanded from orbit with the naval contingent (the company command squad) relaying orders to the troops in the field. Modelling extensive communication equipment such as aerials/communication satellite dishes on 25mm bases would really add to the theme. Personally, I think these guys would be perfect.
You could still use the space cruiser, only have it positioned slightly off the table to represent its detachment from the battle.

I just looked and saw them, i think you're right, i will get those they will fit into the army much better and them keep with the theme. Thanks.
No trouble mate, glad I could help.
PS: I actually know of some 25mm heads with sailor-style caps which would maintain the naval look, I'll have a gander tonight and see if I can find the retailer.
Also, why w'ere on the help. I'm having trouble painting the heads e.g. i have no skin-coloured paint and i'm too cheap to buy anymore which i won't use thats much (all my other armies aren't humans) so do u think i should by some helmets for my gaurd like these ones and add them to my models - here.
I know it's more expensive, but i think the look will be better and easier to paint.

LOL, if you can fork out for Forgeworld, surely you can do so for a pot of Elf Flesh (which you can then darken to degrees with brown ink for shading)?
Having bought the FW Cadian upgrade packs myself, I can safely say that they're awesome and very easy to paint (at least from my mate's perspective - I kept the bits and gave him the heads). However, I'd still go for bare faces myself.
I might just get them for my Stormies...
No more NG spearmen, thanks! Now I need some pump-wagons!
