I was planning on buying a normal tacktical squad and some jump packs for them and i was just wonering if the jump packs would fit fine on the models
thanks for any help
Jump packs should fit fine on just about any power armored marine model that can equip them from their upgrade options.

They should, but remember if your wanting to turn em into assault marines you would need bolt pistols and chainswords.
On top of that, they would look horribly static, given that TAC marines have firing stances, and assualt marines have jumpy legs. Frankly, you are probably better off getting a box of assault marines, its the cheaper option, and (suprisingly) costs *only* as much as a combat squad (I always get assault marines nowadays, if only for the power weapons, extra jump packs lying around and more dynamic legs, I have 100000000000000000000+ bolters and bolter arms lying around from old sprues).
Marines - All built, 4/5 painted. Tau - 3/4 built, 0 painted. 'crons - 1/2 built, 1/2 painted.
I suck at staying on task.
The assault marine set has a number of advantages:
- More dynamic poses
- An abundance of close combat weapons
- The assault marine torso has a pack strap design that isnt on the tactical torso
About the only thing I would use from the tactical box is a flamer. Maybe a powerfist also if you have multiple assault squads so you use something other then the pointy finger one.
I know this thread is old, but I've created so many new threads as of late I thought I'd use an existing one.
What I'm wondering is do the Assault Marine boxes come with power packs to make them walking assault marines, or do you have to buy power pack bits? I'm also trying to determine if I get a battle/strike force and just convert the tac guys to assaulty with bits. More poses are good, but if one is jumping up like he had a pack but he's walking... kinda weird, haha
AFAIK Assault Marines do come with the normal SM backpacks, giving them jump packs is not mandatory remember. You can just stick jump packs onto normal tactical marines, but they look horribly static and boring because they are in standing positions whereas the Assault Marine models are in dynamic, combat-ready positions.
Ah yes, I looked at a pic of the assault sprues on Ebay and saw they can with power packs by default. But then since I was on Ebay thought about it and was thinking of building my guys from bits, like using the assault legs because they are in better poses, but I like the tactical armor for the all the details, where all assault torsos have the Jump Pack straps that cover their eagles or skulls. Basically I do want to put a lot of time and customization into this army, because I already did my quick and easy, straight from the box army with the necron.
You could instead of buying a tactical squad buy a box of Space Wolves Blood Claws as they have CCWs, pistols and several special weapons. Can't remember for sure or not but I think there may be some legs in a running pose.
