I need some help please.
I recently required a box load of marines amongst which were some terminators and a metal chaplain in terminator armour. I wish to buy Lysander (I'm playing Fists). Should I use these two in separate terminator squads or with the same squad?
Also is two Terminator squads excessive in a 1,500pts list?? I'm an IG player so I don't know much about SM composition army wise.
Whilst I'm here are stern guard in a rhino a good buy?
sternguards are good - rhino or drop pod or LR or Librarian with GATE OF INFINITY are a must with them.
Two squads of termi's would be 400 points (and thats just standard) so add the specials in and your looking 700 points of a 1500 point army gone
personnally i wouldn't - i think its over kill
but it is do-able
with 2 lots of 10 man tac squads (nothing extra but free stuff) and a 10 man scout squad (snipers) is another 480 points
that means it leaves you 320 points for Fast attack, HS and upgrading the chaplin.
that is enough to buy a good pred, 3 bike + attack bike, a landspeeder with multimelta and a few points left over to upgrade chaplin a bit
so you could do it but i wouldn't
and those are just 5 man termi squads with no added CC weapons
What kind of Terminators are they? If they're the standard ones I'd run Lysander with them for Bolter drill. If they are the assault kind I'd run with the Chaplain.
Assuming they are two 5 man squads I think it would be fine, but it'd be a points sink after special weapons are equipped. I would not do it unless it's a 2000 points game. Running both the Chaplain and Lysander together with the Terminators would be sick on the charge.
Sternguard are outstanding. Like Rafici said, virtually any kind of transport works for them. Support them with a Terminator squad + IC nearby, Dreadnoughts, Tactical squads or what have you and you're set.

In 1500 I'd put the sternguard in a land raider with lysander and have your termies with the chaplain. Lysander will give sweet rerolls to your sternguard, be able to take any heavy hits (lascannons, plasmaguns and missilie launchers and such) and then provide an awesome CC deterrent since your sternguard will be in assault range.
