Building a 3000 point apocalypse list and I was wondering a few things about the Vanquisher, is it worth taking as a dedicated Anti-Tank weapon? You do get 2D6 armor penetration which is good but perhaps the Vendetta would pack more of a punch?
I'd be taking 3 of them.
As long as they arn't in a squadron... not bad. For anti-armor i have seen them work pretty well, only problem is that they are alot of points when you could get a squad of lascannons which can have 3 shoots for a fraction of the price!! It depends if you wanna move and what not.
The only way i'd use a vanquisher is with a hull lascannon sponson meltas and pask. You need the extra BS and other AT weapons on it incase the vanquisher battle cannon misses.

Yeah I have a deep love for Vanquishers so I'm dying to run one with Pask, a lascannon and camo netting, but it's so expensive. About the same cost as a landraider! In a normal game, I can't see including one (I'll still make it and keep it around) but maybe they could really shine in Apoc where people tend to roll out the heavy armor. Otherwise I'd worry about running out of targets. Without tanks to shoot, it's got no other purpose. Also I agree with Kevin, I'd never even try one without Pask. Guard BS never fails at missing when you need it.
Something I've been toying with is trying an Executioner with Pask. 4 Twin linked Missile strength shots against vehicles and MCs could work out pretty well. And when all the tanks are gone he can still mow down troops.
As for taking 3 of them, I'd advise against it. Barebones with lascannons that's a full 1/6 of your army given to 3 guns with crumby BS and no real secondary roll.
I dont like them. Their expensive just for a non-blast AP2 cannon. The only thing thats really significant about it is it has a higher Str and AP of a battlecannon. I would still go with the battlecannon because I still get to roll 2D6 armour pens. Plus, I remember what the vanquisher cannon use to do and Im pissed that they changed it.
Medusa >>>>>> Vanquisher
Don't bother, it sucks.

If the Vanquisher cannon was given a bit of spice with AP1, I'd consider it as a valid dedicated AT weapon, not just one with the *potential* to be one. It still, however, only has the potential - I ran one in an Apocalypse game a few years back. Three turns, two misses, one tank-sized wreck after a close encounter with a Flyrant.
Unless I have points to burn and I've run out of models, I may take one, but otherwise never again.
If you want an AT Russ, consider the Forgeworld LR Annihilator - 25 points cheaper and twin-linked:
Theres two types of Vanquisher. Ones which have Pask in and ones that don't.
If it doesn't have Pask behind the helm i wouldn't bother. It's alot of points for a BS3 one shot gun with no blast. You'd be better off with a normal Russ.
