    Canoness and her toys......

Well my first model in my SoB army is the lovely lady but I'm having trouble on deciding what she should roll with.

Eventually I will have 2 of em, 1 at 1500 and 2 for above. I have a couple of builds in mind but I don't know which to use in 1500 and vise versa. Here they are anyway, advise on load out and tactics are welcome.

    TAR PIT - 349 pts
Canoness, blessed weapon, book, bolt pistol, cloak - 101
9x Celestians, VSS, Evisorator, H.flamer, flamer, Sacred standard, Rhino, Extra armour, smoke - 248

    TANK HUNTER - 316 pts
Canoness, evisorator, book, inferno pistol, cloak - 110
6x Celestians, VSS, Evisorator, 2x melta guns, Imolator, Extra armour, smoke - 206

    KAMIKAZE - 250 pts
Canoness, evisorator, inferno pistol, cloak, jump pack - 125
Canoness, blessed weapon, brazier, cloak, jump pack - 125

    FLYING TANK HUNTER - 371
Canoness, evisorator, inferno pistol, cloak, jump pack, book - 130
    8x seraphim, VSS, evisorator, 2x inferno pistols - 241

    FLYING FLAMERS - 365
Canoness, blessed weapon, brazier, cloak, jump pack, book - 130
    8x seraphim, VSS, evisorator, brazier, 2x flamers - 235

You see my pickle. I know they are all more or less viable but it's choosing what that is annoying me. They will run along side 4 SoB squads in rhinos and 2 exorcists so around 400pts spare. Personally I like the tar pit (for the 5th rhino if nothing else) and the flying tank hunters.

Please if you can improve the above or give another build I would be grateful. Nearly finished painting the body so the arms and back pack must go on soon!

You should take the Seraphim flying alternatives but I would'nt suggest using inferno pistols with cannonesses, it makes them too expensive, and don't run them inside the serpahim squads as you can't hit and run with the Seraphim which pretty much defeats the purpose of the unit.

Okay, so flying flamers it is. For the whole hit and run thing wouldn't you just detach the canoness befor you charge but both charge the same thing? Same results but the serip can hit and run, or of course send the cannoness to play with someone else Any tips on modeling the brazier?

Keep in mind that the Cannoness would have to leave the unit during the movement phase and stay more than 2" away from the seraphim unit. An IC can not leave a unit during the shooting/asault phases.
    (WH40K) Dark Eldar - (12,000pts) Sisters of Battle - (5000pts) Dark Angels -(3500pts) (WHFB) Dark Elves - (10,000pts) Beastmen - (5000pts) Empire - (3000pts) Wood Elves - (1500pts)

I would personally go with a flying kamikaze for low points...

    Cannoness
Plasma pistol, blessed weapon, cloak, jump pack 130pt

Jump around with her, find some nice target and dash toward it using terrain to full effect.
I.e a brick wall, hide behind it, dash out and charge. Use a faith point in the assault phase if PWs are present.

Worked fine against terminators for me... Until they wounded. Damn powerfists.

Optional you can have some seraphim joining her as an escort.

A question that might make her more survivable, can she take both cloaks?
The st aspira cloak and the one against insta death. I dunno really.

Still, I'd go with a flying kamikaze for lower points...

    Cheers!

because of all the new pile in and defends react stuff I would'nt do this as you could very likely still be attached to the unit, plus most of the time youll be needing your cannoness to tie up MC's and such, the Seraphim are made to attack different units.

Every once in a while a double charge with the Seraphim and cannoness is nessicary but make sure you can end the combat. I've had it many times where my Seraphim and Cannoness have been locked in a never ending combat for most of a game because I thought I could win the combat.

Also put books on EVERYTHING that can take them, especially the cannoness you always want her to have 10 LD or else she sucks at being a tarpit, and also never take Seraphim without them.

Other upgrades on the cannoness you might want to consider are: Litanies of faith, it's pretty expensive I would only use it at low points games, and Mantle of ophelia is nice to have.

    Banzi!!!

Haha, well yes she can have both but the mantle of ophelia is one per army and can only be used against the 1st instant death attack. Still if I gave it to the blessed weapon canoness and she went to hunt infantry whilst the evisorator armed one went to hunt tanks then all's good eh?
The biggest lure to use the dule canoness is low points, extra faith and... well it looks funny! Also with points saved I can include an all H.bolter retributor squad.

Still liking the idea of seraphim but would the fire power of a retributor squad and the second canoness be enough to replace them?

The retributors would'nt even come close to replacing a squad of seraphim. In my opinion stick with the seraphim.

The tank hunters or flying flamers options are both good, although to fit a canoness in the immolator WITH her retinue you would have to cut down to 5 celestians.

One point I would make (that seems to be missing from every build) is that, whatever her configuration, a canoness should ALWAYS have a Litany of Faith with her.
