i need serious help im the type of player who cant choose an army without changing my mind right before i start
I am a space marine player first and foremost but there just so many cool chapters to choose from (i also suck at making my own)
lyuckily it is only space marine
but my question is how can i choose an chapter and stick with it (i need some inspiration ) with this said the chapter i seem to come back too is the salamander army so please help!!!!
funnily enough if you want to choose from them, i was going to suggest salamander because they are cool, have a theme, a great colour scheme and not everyone plays them.
Personally i play a make your own chapter, I just painted them my fav colour (purple) and saw there were hawk lords with a similar scheme, but mine are very very different from them
Space marines are great because they can be subdued in colour (Crimson fists) or flaymboyant (Rainbow marines) and no one bats an eye, so go nuts
Wash: This landing is gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: [deadpan] Oh God, oh God, we're all going to die?
Read some fluff, figure out if you like fire, ninjas, or the smurfs best.
All joking aside, really all you can do is read fluff, look at armies (a nicely painted army could do it for you), consider if you would ever paint the amount of yellow needed for imperial fists, look at some conversions, anything to get some inspiration.
Marines - All built, 4/5 painted. Tau - 3/4 built, 0 painted. 'crons - 1/2 built, 1/2 painted.
I suck at staying on task.
Might I recommend a name thats funny at first but less funny each time you hear it...the B-sharps.
But seriously a name you'd enjoy/chapter whose fluff you enjoy. I play Dark Angels because I enjoyed the fluff (not because they're a great army.) I'd say do a DIY chapter because then it can be a successor to what ever chapter you want, especially with a broad name like oh "The Emporer's Pointy Sticks". My DIy chapter is called the Sabre fangs so I'm stuck playing assaulty lists, and chossing assaulty chapters like Raven guard and wolves for example.
But that's just my experience/suggestions...
The only thing I'd recommend, as others have already pointed out, is to read all the fluff you can and check out the paint schemes of various armies you like. Do you like to do conversions? What kind of playing style do you prefer? Do you like assault? Look into the Blood angels or Space wolves when they come out later this year. Do you like shooty lists? The most important thing is to find what feels right to you. Do you have a great idea for a DIY chapter?
For myself, I chose Salamanders back in 3rd edition. Their rules were unique and it lent a lot of flavor to them. Their fluff is great, I love the paint scheme and bringing to bear a devastating volley of melta and flamers in a coordinated attack, followed by a Chaplain led TH/SS squad, is a thing of beauty.
