Does anyone know where I could find the army list for the raven guards 3rd company led by Shirke? I think there the one of the coolest chapters after reading stories about them and I tempted to collect the entire 3rd company. If it was ever printed.
Zara is right. In the current edition, all you can do is build from codex:space marines with Shrike as your HQ.
In the previous edition, you could run a more raven guard style list by taking the chapter traits, plus shrike could take a special bodyguard called shrikes wing (mmmm assault marines with lightning claws!!)...but its all gone now...
Space Wolves (Under Construction) | Circle of Orboros (Under Construction)
Shrikes 3rd Company is a Battle Company so it's comprised of 6 tactical squads, 2 devastator squads, 2 assault squads and Shrike with his Command Squad, Command Squad being useless since they can't take jump packs. Shrikes Wing unit can be remade by making a Vanguard Veteran Squad with Jump Packs and lightning claws, though thats one heck of an expensive squad points wise. The specifics for each squad doesn't matter since they would exchange equipment for whatever they think they'll need for the upcoming battle.
Warhammer 40k: Blood Angels, Imperial Guard, Grey Knights, Space Lizards (wolves), Kroot, Witch Hunters, Dark Eldar
Warhammer: Lizardmen, Empire, Vampire Counts, Brettonians, High Elves, Skaven
While the Raven Guard organize along the guidelines of the Codex Astartes, their application of this is subtly different. Following the Istvaan V Massacre the Legion just did not have the resources to re-equip properly and had to make due with older arms and armor. Because of this even in modern times the Raven Guard include a significantly higher number of ancient suits than most chapters and the individuals that are lucky enough to be gifted with these suits view themselves as blessed by the Primarch.
In addition to their armor, the Raven Guard are famed for their ease of deployment, as often the chapter will deploy in Drop Pods or be generally mobile, the fighting forces of the Raven Guard can quickly assess and adapt to a rapidly changing battlefield.
Squad level tactics and rapid deployment are aspects of the Raven Guard that are studied closely by other Chapters and which have even worked their way into the doctrines of other Astartes Chapters. Sharing experience and knowledge is not necessarily uncommon, but the extent to which the Raven Guard’s skill in these areas is acknowledged is impressive.
The Codex does not dictate the size or disposition of the Scout Company however and some theories persist that the Raven Guard may make use of significantly more scout squads, or organize them differently than many other Chapters. However if such actions are the case they are perfectly legitimate along the dictates of the Codex Astartes and would not be that unusual and as such are not really mentioned. But some argue that the reliance on scouts by the Raven Guard would lead to an increased number of them.
but in general utilising mass scouts and assault will give you a nice hitting force i had 2 cc scout squads and an assault squad and with fleet and 2 dreads crippled half an imp gaurd mech force.
The GW I go to gave away the whole Raven Guard 3rd Company in a raffle on the day the gamesday tickets were released.
These lads are right, Raven Guard are built from the standard marine codex.
I could give you a dozen or more army lists that are RG fluffy and very effective. What you really need to do is come up with one that is fluffy to YOU.
I personally consider Lost Nemesis to be the leading expert in Raven Guard army lists (IMO!), and he made a great article a while ago which you might want to check out here (clicky!) though I feel Nem and I have already pointed you to it in the past? =)
Thx for the help, I forgot raven guard would use the same companies as the codex states. Lost nemesis already posted a thing in the other thread i did showing how to build a fluffy raven guard army.
I was just wondering if GW ever did his 3rd company but it doesnt matter now.
Thx again for the help.
Yeah the one cleanrabbit posted.
