Welcome to Librarium Online!
Got some old grey knights that im converting into an assault squad, would they deffiently need the newer slightly larger bases?
Yes, all terminators must be mounted on the 40mm? bases that the other terminators use.
Actually the rule book only states that you must base models with bases no smaller than the ones they came with, so no, you don't have to, but I recommend that you do.

Wait, you say Terminators, but just talk about Grey Knights? Are you using PAGK or GKT's here?
If it's GKT's, they've always had the larger bases, so you need to use them - GKT's won't even fit on a 25mm base! PAGK's are good on 25's, but they're definitely not Termies!
Are we talking Terminator Assault Squad or Assault Squad here?
Additionally by old Grey Knights do you mean the ancient bolter/halberd combiweapon Grey Knights.Except for the title. The OP didn't mention Terminators at all...

Rules for grenades are on page 72 of the rulebook.
heh yes i mean the oldschool grey knight terminators, not the new ones (who would make a nice thousand suns conversion). Trying to find a hammer for them (+ hand attached to hammer naturally). Any suggestions? want them to look beefcake holding 2 handed thunder hammers. Cheers for sorting out the base issue, i bought some bases incase i needed to make them bigger than normal space marine bases. Cheers all.
Best chance is to got for more of a mace than a hammer (tho hammer really suits the Ordo Malleus). The censers from the platic skavan plaguemonks work nicely, or get the power-mauls from the chaos termi frames.
Hope thats of help
BTW, if your not gonna use the funky old force weapons, I would love to get my hands on em, looking to trade?

cheers man, nice advice. ill have a look! 3 different weapons, all 2 handed could be interesting, no?
Ah i would love to but over the years they have been lost or absorbed into my army. Sorry man, ive only got one left and its going on a model. if anymore come up, ill trade init
So u no, cos its ancient old metal, it is quite easily bent, hard to keep the force lance from not turning into a force twirl as it were.
