I have just started space marines and want to know the best units to kill the crisis battlesuits, fire warriors, sky ray and hammerhead tanks..
i would also like to no wat r tau most effective units into destroying space marines so i no in some way wat to look out for
Shewt moar obitul bumbardmintz!
Easiest ways to deal with Tau huh? get in close combat with them, as space marines you pretty much have the odds working for you on this one, as far as doing that goes though you might have some problems lol. Assault squads have always worked wonders for me, and it's not that out of the ordinary for a space marine army to roll two of those down the field.
some of the nastier things to look out for are hammerheads, and pathfinders with rail rifles, if anyone even runs those...they're awesome. anyways the big thing is that most of their weapons won't AP marines except for the rail rifles and hammerhead railcannons if they fire their solid shot. but every tau firewarrior carries a weapon that is strength 5, your best bet is to get into close combat as soon as you can and stop their fire line.

i play black templar space marines and i also play T'au. so i got 3 words. Assault, Assault, Assault. black templar relay a lot on assault and i never seen a player out last a tau player in a shooting match. use bikes, jump troops, and termies as much a possible. also scouts are a good choice seen how most have bolt pistol and sword makes for that extra attack.
if you take tanks take cheapos. the fact the tau can take out a land raider with ease i really would stay away from tank in general and go with land speeders. laugh if you want but i have taken out more tau tanks with land speeders, than predators. maybe a few dreads at best. razorback is also good to because it cheap for troop transport and with twin lascannons it has good fire power. only take a land raider crusader for high point games, but in note if they set up a heavy gun line this is your friend. it will punch a hold in there gun line that they cant recover from. so around 1500-2000 points. if you get reserves take vanguard veterans with jump packs. there special rule heroic intervention really can rattle their cage.
if possible stay away for sternguard veterans and devastators because there more about shooting then assault. land raider is another bad choice built around shooting and not assault plus very high points cost. vindicator is a no also unless in close fighting areas like city. you will need to get in range and get a shot off before they see you. predator maybe, i only ever take 1 and thats only if in open battlefields. i take twin lascannon, heavy bolters on sides and hunter killer missile.
now on to commanders. use a commander built around assault. i use 1 of my 3 built for assault. i have a chap. on bike, captain on bike and captain with jump pack. i also have to take the emperiors champion being a black templar and this guy makes bad days for tau players. last but not least vindicare assassin. he maybe for shooting but with his sniper rifle and the special ammo it make for another bad day.
now for the tau. hammerheads with rail guns are your worst nightmare. so are broadside suits. crisis suits and really throw a beating with the right layout. path finders with rail rifle will kill marines with ease. kroot are also no biggy but it can get pretty hairy fighting them. stingwings are no real big deal. their sonic blaster can kill a marine with ease but their short range and a squad has low numbers. stealth suits are too much to worry about, drones are just to annoy you. phiannas really aint a big deal, but all of it can also throw out a surprise. so ill just get to the point on this one. almost all tau range weapons are better then marine range weapons. sorry dude but it the truth. so what ever you do, dont have a shooting match other wise your gonna lose.
if you play your cards right you will kick ET in the money bags and he will cry home to mommy.

And yeah, that stuff's pretty much what you need for anti-Tau. I was going to suggest Fire Prisms but then I remembered that this is the Space Marine forum... foolish Mon-Keigh.
You could always use a Whirlwind on the Fire warriors. I've heard good things too about Thunderfire cannons on Tau jump units using the subterannean blast ammuniton.

Drop pods are an excellent method of dealing with battle suits who pop into LOS, fire then pop back again. There is little reason to tool up your marines with excessive close combat equipment as you should win virtually all combats you enter. Attack bikes who turboboost then use multimeltas can deal with hammer heads as can drop podding dreads or combimelta sternguard.
Rhinos and other transports often die early when facing tau and the land raiders become smoking hulks before you know it.
Taking outflanking units such as scouts or LSS can be fun. The LSS can get first turn charges using the scout move to approach within 12.5" then on turn one disembark the scouts 2" from the hull then move, fire pistols and charge on turn one. If you dont get first turn use it to ourflank instead. I always take the heavy flamer as the weapon as it ignores the BS3.
