I just thought I would post up a few pics of my converted Deathstrike, and see what people's thoughts were.
As you can see, the model is not quite finished, I need to finish painting it and then I can glue the tracks on.
It is made from a chimera kit as the base, then with a 1:35 scale soviet SA-2 Guideline missile launcher providing parts for the missile itself and the firing mechanism. The rest was constructed with plasticcard.
The missile is very big, but I figure that it would need to be large to be able to carry enough fuel to deliver it's payload intercontinentally...100_1497.jpg
Anyway, I would lik to hear what you think,
All the best.
I'm impressed! I certainly wouldn't mess with it!
The missile looks really impressive, but not out of place! Great conversion!
I like the integration you did between the two kits but you really should shorten the missile--otherwise it's kind of ridiculous for game play. It looks big enough that, even if you make the missile smaller, you could still paint & model it as a two-stage missile--or add a couple smaller, 'booster' missiles on its side. Good work, though, it's coming along nicely.

i think it looks great but the missile is a little big.

Thats fair enough guys. Thanks for the positive feedback
On the size of the missile, hear me out-
If you compare it to the missile pictured in the book, it is shorter, BUT the body is like 2-3 times the thickness of mine, so roportionally I feel it works.
Plus realistically, if the weapon is suposed to have a range of 960" (80 FEET!!!) then it needs to be able to hold enough fuel to carry it that far.
Plus, I love the idea of basically launching a SCUD at your foe that is a meagre distance away- the kinda over kill I love about the Guard
So I wanted the model to have the OH SH*T! Factor on the gameboard
You definitely get some REP for it since I can see your Uplifting Primer behind it...

Lol that looks awesome.
The conversion work is good too and they way you've joined the kits together is very well done. However the model kit that you've joined onto the Chimera body stands out a bit as it's so smooth. I'd add some rivets and make the armour look like it's armoured plates linked together like the rest of the chimera hull.
Does look good though Good luck hiding that boy behind cover lol.
I see what you mwean with it looknig so smooth... I may dig around in my bitz box for a spare armour plate and stick it on to improve its look... I am not to gd at making rivits.
Looks pretty cool, have you tried it out (Or a proxy) in a game? I love the concept of the deathstrike, and the models I've seen look rather cool and intimidating (Especially yours), but I've never had a chance to see what they can do in a game yet.
